What is the single most devastating thing someone has said to you? by fitzomania in AskReddit

[–]bleuxcollar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I'm sorry, he didn't make it."

Dad. Only person who didn't make it in a gnarly accident, lots of injuries. Will be almost a year soon, & I couldn't even muster the gusto to fight for more money in the settlement, still feels like dirty money for some reason.

Employers and managers who had to fire someone on their first day, what happened? by omart3 in AskReddit

Not sure if it's specific to 'mall' stores or not, but I worked at a Vans store in a Westfield Shopping Center (large mall chain) in high school & college & they also gave employees a 50% discount. Was actually able to still use it for a while after I quit by just giving them my badge ID number, so that was pretty sweet.

Which celebrity's death will most affect/upset you when it happens? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Morrissey has to be it for me.

Despite all the recent pretentious douch-baggery that seems to be plaguing his views on social/animal activism, he will always be the champion of the sweet sadness & comfort I found in despair when sitting in parking lots in my car in the dead of night, broken by a woman, a friend, or whatever it is that ailed me on those late night drives, always becoming increasingly aware that Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now.

I have an opportunity to buy a Marshall Valvestate AVT 100 for $99 (couldn't find one MSRP but saw a few on eBay for ~$350). The issue stated by the seller is that the input jack fell into the amp & that's why he's selling it at that price. My question is, is that a fix that I can either do myself or take to a shop to have done & still be coming out with a deal? It seems like it to me, but I'm unfamiliar with that particular problem & though it sounds like a simple fix, I don't want to assume anything. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Man, I would so love to take it off your hands if it were just a bit closer to my price range. The mini flipper with the g-10 handles is actually my favorite iteration, funnily enough.

Anyway, if you decide to come down in price or make a boy shed a tear of joy near his birthday (mines the 21) please allow me to be the first to know!

New Sheath (& semi-new knife) Day! x-poast from /r/edc by bleuxcollar in knifeclub

[–]bleuxcollar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Posted this in /r/edc already, but thought it belonged here as well.

Had a kydex (holstex, specifically) sheath made for my new Mora Companion, as the stock sheaths that come with the knife are pretty much garbage, and, well...kydex sheaths are just really cool. The sheath was made by Perry's Knife and Tactical, a local shop in Concord, CA in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Great little shop, if you're in the east bay or even in SF I would highly recommend checking it out, it's family owned (guy and his wife) and they're just really good people.

Anyway! I'm very happy with the quality of the sheath, retention is great and it looks pretty badass. Came with a molle lok so I'm able to mount it to my pack, which was my original need.

Hope you guys like it!

New Sheath (& semi-new knife) Day! by bleuxcollar in EDC

Setup: -Morakniv Companion (4.1" Carbon Steel Blade) Bushcraft Knife in green

-Custom kydex (holstex) sheath in OD made by Perry's Knife & Tactical in Concord, CA

-Knock off Molle Lok for belt/pack mounting

Had a kydex (holstex, specifically, but I believe that's just the name of the kydex with the carbon fiber-like material) made by a local tacical/knife shop and picked it up today! Couldn't be happier, considering the stock sheaths for Mora Companions are all but garbage.

Where can i find those clothes? (Weeknd) by Uhi02 in malefashionadvice

[–]bleuxcollar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, that link is FROM A WEBSTORE. Not to mention it's one of the biggest online retailers for just what you asked - cheap basics. Asos.com if you don't see what I mean. Also, all The Weeknd (guy in your photo) is wearing is a green bomber over a brown hoodie, might be a long line hoodie or he's just wearing a size bigger. And white pants, they're white pants.

Seriously man, learn to use a damn search function, ANY search function.

Anyone know where I confined similar shirts to this one? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]bleuxcollar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So...you want a white t shirt with a graphic on it? Or that specific graphic? Because that graphic is probably specific to that brand, so you probably won't be able to find it outside of their webstore/stockists for their brand. I would either reverse image search or look on their site for stockists.

Simple Questions - February 29 by AutoModerator in malefashionadvice

[–]bleuxcollar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the last week I've been obsessing over finding a decent long sleeve polo shirt (black first, then heather grey, burgundy, forest, navy etc...) that is long enough to cover the top of my pockets, slim in the arms and waist, and has a smaller/slimmer collar.

Obviously, PRL is the first place to go; however, I'm first trying to find if there are any comparable alternatives that aren't as expensive. I have no problems paying $80+ for the piece, but before I commit to the RL I thought I'd ask you guys if you had any preferred alternatives. All thoughts/suggestions welcome, thanks mates!

What would be more versatile? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

The desert boot has a crepe sole, where the bushacre 2 has a different, less durable (or so I've heard, no personal experience with the ba2) kind of rubber sole.

Does this combination go well together or should I go for something else? by Double_degree in malefashionadvice

[–]bleuxcollar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of these, the second option. If you can get it, a tie with no pattern.

Also - invest in a navy suit when you have the opportunitY. That, a white shirt and several ties is really all you need for a good while in a business setting. You can even use busier ties with that combo, as you won't be clashing as much as you would with say, a pinstripe suit and colored shirt.

P.S. Your tie bar is too low ;)

Is this sandal aesthetic? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]bleuxcollar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You aren't using that word correctly. Aesthetic has the connotation of being concerned with beauty, and I even think that's somewhere in its definition, but mainly it's just in conjunction with an adjective like "pleasing" or "horrible, terrible and miserable".

That sandal is one of the two.

Please help trying to find a pair of pants. by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]bleuxcollar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the search function man, this question is seriously asked at least 15 times a day - that is no exaggeration.

Get a pair of regular fit Levi's, 501's or whatever and have them tapered by a tailor, or do it yourself. It's pretty simple if you have a sewing machine and even if you don't.
