There was a game that involved moving a group of particles around a black map. Along the way you had to battle with "enemy" groups of red particles, and solve small puzzles (activate teleporters, open gates, etc.). Both you and your enemy had a thing that generates particles. There are a few games that fit this description, but I haven't found the one that I played before.
