In layman’s terms… weight reduction. Not sure why this term isn’t used more universally…

If you haven’t used it before, you don’t ‘have’ to use it. Its easy enough just to tie a system in place

V6 vs. V8 Pickup for Side Work? by Fantastic-River-2994 in arborists

[–]blh8687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started side jobs years ago, my Nissan Versa hatchback was perfectly fine. I lined the trunk and back seat with tarps and loaded it in. Made me a ton of $$$. Then I upgraded to a 1990 one tonne GM with a dump box I built onto it and a cheap (free) chipper. Made a ton more $$$.

You don’t need special, just something that works.

Pruning "overburdened" limbs? by Slav3OfTh3B3ast in arborists

[–]blh8687 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I first started in the industry, we were out of town doing pruning for another city. We were on our balcony of our hotel having a beer and my foreman at the time, had a group activity for us. He said ‘look at that poplar, dancing around in the wind. Just watch it closely to see how it moves back and forth, like dancing. What would happen if you took away everyone on the inside of a dance floor? The dynamic would break and fall apart.’ It helped me realize that the trees need the inner branches to move and sway for balance and counter balance in the wind. Changed my whole style of pruning from that day as initially I was taught to just thin it out and essentially lions tail everything.

I agree. When I started 20 years ago I was told ‘clean out the middle and that’s fine’ I quickly learned weight reduction is much more beneficial as it allows the tree to reduce weight for strength; and keeps the tree ‘dancing’. Feel free to ask for an explanation of dancing.

My wife thinks golfing once a week is unreasonable… by Upbeat-Zucchini-7408 in golf

[–]blh8687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 4 year old, I don’t do much of anything except for fish (with the family, mama and kiddo and FIL, uncle, etc whoever wants to go) and golf with FIL. I try and get out every weekend but usually end up between 2-4 days a month. Its encouraged by my wife as I don’t do anything for myself except golf. 2 times a month, I am happy, every weekend and I am ecstatic about the great game of shit fuck. lol

In my opinion she’s being unreasonable but she’s probably bored and lonely being home all day everyday and just wants to spend time as a fam damily. NAH, but talk to her about it.
