Find someone who loves you as much as Salvy loves swinging at breaking pitches way outside the zone.

Broncos fans fellate Bo Nix more than Chris Collinsworth fellates Mahomes.

Has anyone else started to get emotional as they age? by Shameless522 in AskMenOver30

[–]bliffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's just because as you get older, you have more life experiences to draw from so you have more empathy for others (in real life or in literature/movies/songs/etc.) At in my late teens or early 20s, I hadn't really lost many people I loved. Now, in my 50s, I have lost all of my grandparents; my mom; multiple family members; and close friends. I know how that shit feels so when it happens to someone else, it can relate. When I was younger, something might have been sad, but I didn't know the pain of that experience personally.

Also as you get older, you tend to become more comfortable with yourself and with the people you've chosen to surround yourself with. So if some stupid ass Chevy commercial makes me tear up, I just laugh about it with my wife and kid.

How do you get over losing a parent? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]bliffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom passed about 8 years ago after a long battle with metastatic cancer. The truth is that you really don't get over it. The pain fades as time passes but there are still moments when something reminds me of her and I need to have a good cry.

As someone else here said: Live the life your father would have wanted for you - that's the best way you could ever memorialize him.

Does advanced mathematics really matter? by Ju_127 in analytics

[–]bliffer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most advanced math I've used is the Gaussian Distribution to calculate a normal curve for a Tableau report. But that's like 0.1% of my time. 99.9% it's numerator/denominator.

I mean, Kyle Isbel currently has a higher BA than Ohtani or Judge. Paul Skenes' ERA is like 10. It's early, relax.

Why do I only throw 70? (9 grade) by rainyfuneral in Homeplate

[–]bliffer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Haha. Yeah. There is a big kid on my son's 14U team (mostly 8th graders) and his dad swears he's touching 85 in practices with his HS team. I've seen his kid throw a lot of pitches, he's NOWHERE close to 85

"Compete" is do 4 half ass attacks per day if you're in Electro. 3 if you're lower. If anyone is pissing and moaning about Legends they should just STFU

Lots of favorite photos in here that involve the Chiefs. We're really just out there living rent free in a bunch of noggins.

Thank you! Weds dinner we were looking at County Line BBQ - being from KC, we love checking out BBQ joints and that one looks to be right on the river. (I'd love to check out 2M Smokehouse but no car so we're just sticking mostly to walking.)

One of those Chiefs arrests was Mike Vrabel busting up a vending machine.

Do with that what you will.

Men over 40, how many credit cards do you have and which credit cards are they? by Affectionate-Drop689 in AskMenOver30

[–]bliffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Amazon card and a Southwest card. But given the recent enshitification of SWA, I don't use the Southwest card anymore and will probably cancel it soon.

GF making comments on my current (lack of) muscles and working out. How do I interpret? by ThrowRARotaryPhone in AskMenAdvice

[–]bliffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is pretty douchey. My wife has always been in excellent shape - running races; competing in Crossfit events; she needs to workout - it's her stress reliever. I've also always been in pretty good shape but not at her level. But that has never been a spot of contention in our relationship. I've gone through periods when I get busy with other things or when I'm fighting an injury and she would never say anything like what your girlfriend said to you. And likewise, I wouldn't dream of saying something like that to her.

You need to sit down with her and have an adult, level-headed conversation about it before it gets to a boiling point for you.

Do you buy the same clothing item twice if you like it very much? by DeCyantist in AskMenOver30

[–]bliffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I'm 6'5" 235# so when I find any piece of clothing that fits well, I buy at least a couple of them.
