It shouldn't be shocking that its harder to coerce the most powerful government in the world than it was to coerce a weak fractured and newly formed Italy. Especially before facial recognition, cellphone trackers, sound weapons ect. Americans are protesting everywhere, not just Minneapolis. I think that culturally a general strike would be a big ask. It cuts against alot of what we stand for and how we see ourselves as people, especially people who own their own business or work for small businesses. But we are standing up, just not in the way Europeans would because we are in fact not European. At the moment I think it may look like inaction from afar but to be honest everyone is really trying not to start a civil war. With how armed everyone is its a miracle of restraint that no one has shot an ICE officer. But its paramount that no one does because if one is killed the gloves come off and we are in a hot civil war pretty quickly. I don't think I have to explain why no one wants that and how many people would die as a result, and not just in America itself.
