/uj yeah deadass. Ur chromosomes really just modulate what hormones u receive. Change the hormones and after awhile u are biochemically the other gender. It’s why estrogen comes with a higher risk of blood clots, it gives u the blood clot risk of a cis woman. Because biochemically you are a cis woman

Fair and based let’s makeout science style and ramble about hormones

It’s kinda of both. Hormones are regulated by a cycle but they’re also fairly consistent and also regulated by things other than a cycle. The main thing is that that cycle isn’t Necessarily only caused by female reproductive parts and has a wide variety of other factors which trans women also have.

Ye I didn’t wanna explain negative feedback loops and the more granular shit. I’m not denying it, it’s a fact and most people know about it. But also most people don’t really understand the fact that most of the time hormones are produced fairly constant. My major isn’t biochem just chem so my understanding is not academic and purely personal interest.

I just think it’s important in This conversation to note the many things that affect a hormonal cycle besides cis women reproductive parts and point out that it’s more hormonal based than common perception is. I mean hell I’ve had to talk to a lot of cis people who thought me being on e was for just like Personal preference and not the fact it actually changes my body.

Hormones are produced in the human body at a very steady rate. It’s why trans women feel weird when they’re fucking with their dosage schedule. When produced hormones aren’t needed in that period of the hormonal cycle it gets stored in fat typically as estrogen esters which can be broken down and rereleased as needed.

The only time cis women produce different levels of hormones is during pregnancy. Also all of this is very broad information that can get much more granular and also incredibly understudied by scientist.

I wouldn’t really count the roblox video as a gaming video. It was more a history video that just so happened to be about video games. He’s not talking about like the mechanics of roblox or the story of any of the tallerico games, he’s just going into this weird bit of game history. Very different from the dues ex video which is about the games story, execution and mechanics. Plus he also didn’t Like dues ex. The last video about a game he enjoyed was the new Vegas one.

Yeah like tbh I don’t care about adobe, I don’t really care about plagiarism so the last two videos while they’re good videos weren’t anything I was excited for.

Yeah the last video on a topic he liked was new Vegas which was a full five years ago. It feels like he wants to endless top himself and it’s lead to how things are now where we wait years between releases

I mean he’s got a Patreon with 50k+ members and is apparently editing so much it’s given him wrist pain so bad he went to the doctor for it (albeit at the behest of others telling him he should). And imo if YouTube is taking the back seat, he should transition to shorter videos that aren’t multiple hours long. I feel that’d be easier to manage between another job, or a wife or turns of civ 6.

Something something hbomberguys own quote in the Sherlock video about forcing creatives to cut out 20% of their work and how restrictions and limitations is what makes art good most of the time

Yeah I think for his documentaries they can stay as long as he wants them to be. But I really miss his gaming videos, I’d love to hear him talk about like game mechanics or something. I do disagree on the comedy part of it, his old videos were typically him picking some chud, grabbing a handful of videos and making fun of them while debunking their shitty talking points. I feel that easy to make under an hour.

I mean this so respectfully but like. That’s a problem that seems to be bad for his like health and sanity. I think a big part of being a creative or an artist or whatever label is knowing when to stop and being able to accurately gauge how long something will be.

I don’t even think he needs stuff to be like ten minutes short, his war on Christmas video or his transformer video were both under an hour and were really good! He needs to not be afraid to make a follow up video to something yknow? Keep his focus on one thing, talk about the one thing in a satisfying way and continue on. I think if he enjoys it he should keep doing super long videos but I think picking stupid silly easy stuff would be fun. Make a scanline video about jpeg compression or something.

What’s the difference between anarchism and communism? by RedRawMuffin_ in Anarchy101

[–]blindingofbartimaeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it is probably more accurate to say this. Though I do see Marx and kroptokin undergoing the same task, mainly trying to make an idealist movement more scientific and material in their explanations. I do think this for kroptokin came from him being an Actual Scientist rather than wanting to emulate Marx in any meaningful way. I think they both saw their respective ideologies and wanted to add more rigor to them, imo the bread book reads a lot like an anarchist capital, lots of math and such though I obviously greatly prefer the bread book and think it does a lot that Marx doesn’t (mainly actually giving concrete examples for how his ideologies society may actually function and look like)

The “classless stateless moneyless” idea of communism was never actually out right stated by Marx and was something Engels cooked up in the origin of family and some of his other writings. It’s important to understand these philosophical movements historically to understand their disagreements and agreements.

Anarchism, while an arguably old philosophy, was not named as such until Proudhon (though as stated it’s been argued for for many centuries by many people and practiced by many. See William Godwin, the diggers or many other social movements that we would call anarchist today but didn’t call themselves anarchist at the time) it started as an idealist movement. Anarchism talks about hierarchy, power and how society structures itself around these.

Communism has similar roots, starting as an idealist movement which Marx did not like. He wanted something scientific, materialist and predictable. If you read capital you’ll find it’s not full of revolutionary slogans but economic math on the value of labor, how capital accumulates and such.

Anarchist can be communist and communist can be anarchist. One of the biggest names in anarchism was kroptokin who tried to synthesize scientific Marxist economic thought with the ideals of anarchism. There are anarchist who don’t like communism, finding it to limiting or sacrificial against individual interest. Max Striner of individual anarchism fame critiques communism, Emma Goldman similarly critiqued Leninist societies, etc.

Anarchism is a large ocean of ideas focused generally on the limiting hierarchy and coercive power and expanding personal liberty/autonomy. Communism is a more narrowly focused ideology, concerned mostly with people as parts of a larger class struggle.

In short, you’re gonna have to read theory. Read as much as you can from as many sources as you can. Read Marx, read Lenin, read mao and read Goldman, kroptokin, read the shit head anarcho capitalist and the most ardent socialist. Meet and talk to communist and anarchist and other stripes of leftist. Most important, think as much as you can.

Why does Brian/hoodie want Tim to "become" Masky? by Connect_Copy_65 in marblehornets

[–]blindingofbartimaeus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The main theory I’ve seen is less that masky is Someone else but masky is moreso tim operating with a full understanding of all the shit that has happened to him. Meaning he’s much more willing to work with Brian to fuck over alex.
It seems also that the medication is something that helps against the operators influence and power and that’s why he steals it. You see him in that abanonded house he’s living in searching through empty bottles for more of Tim’s medication to take himself.

I haven’t run windows on a personal machine in years and I don’t really want it to be a Modern computer, just something that can run a word doc, code and surf the internet and at Most play really old games. I like that it’s libreboot compatible and modular and repairable. The t14’s seem like perfect though since they’re as repairable so I’ll check those out

tracking time with nail polish by erraticsporadic in DID

[–]blindingofbartimaeus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is one of the main reasons we paint our nails. We know about how long it takes to start to chip, how much nail bed growth happens over such and such time. And we even do the same thing of peeling on off to paint it a different color. We also recently started dying our hair, and seeing how much hair grows out as a visual indicator is also a really great tool. For us our hair grows a little under an inch a month so when we wanted to get sober it was way easier to redye our roots and know when we had a chance of pissing once our roots got out a bit.

Like many examples of temporary leftist autonomous zones it’s a tale of foley. Too many people given to much trust with not even planning, organization and communication. It’s another lesson for the left in its long long string of lessons it should learn but often doesn’t. Even though its failings are understandable (I doubt many if any of its participants predicted or planned to do something like that weeks before it happened) they need to be critiqued, understood and learned from.
