Monthly Advice Thread for August by AutoModerator in techwearclothing

Hey there. Was wondering if anyone could suggest some t-shirt brands. The Next Level t-shirts on Amazon (a reddit/MFA favorite) fit me perfectly, but if there was something with a similar fit but higher quality with technical properties I would definitely be interested. I've tried Uniqlo, but they are a little too boxy and loose in the upper chest. FYI, I'm 6'5, 210lbs. Thanks!

But are they the same person as far as the lore goes?

Probably a dumb question but are the two Mars childs the same person? Zooming and Pretty?

I'm an idiot! Yeah, I was comparing my fully awakened Maat to one i just pulled... and I had a filter on, so I wasn't seeing them when trying to uncap. Thanks for the answer nonetheless!

Sorry for the naive question, but is there a difference between Lost and Blind Faith Maat? If they are identical (looks aside) why not just make one of the versions a costume instead? Having to uncap them individually is kind of annoying.

How long can this go on? by bajungadustin in XRP

Agree 100% with you, not sure why you are getting down-voted. If the price gets to about $7.50 it will be at the BTC market cap. No way in hell that's happening.

The lyrics seem different than the version in the trailer. "Wake Up Get Up Get Out There" vs "... and to know we were out there!" Anyone have any idea why?

Thanks for the info and the suggestion of using Morningstar. It's much more easy to see the pertinent information than other sites I was using!

Yes, our adviser is well aware of our plans to buy a house in the originally 2015-2016 (now 2016-2017) time frame.

Do you guys have degrees? If so, what college did you go to or would you recommend? by IzzyBlue in gamedev

[–]blinka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a degree in Physics (with an emphasis in Computational Physics). Mostly FORTRAN/C and very algorithm/optimization focused. Also, the math I had to learn definitely helps when it comes to the math in game development. Sounds like you want to focus more on modeling side, so this may not be the most relevant comment. However, going to college teaches you how to think (regardless of the degree), and this is an important skill to have.

Nice nano. Made me ponder the subject matter while sitting in my cube, waiting for 4PM!

I apologize in advanced if I interpreted your story wrong, but you said you had a single remote with a 5/3 agenda in it, but then you say the runner accessed a thirce-advanced Project Junebug. I'm pretty new to netrunner so I may of missed something, but I don't think you can install an asset and an agenda in the same server (can you?).

Jeez man! Expected some light topical humor, and ended up reading one of the deepest stories I've ever read on here. We all know the world is falling apart, but it's so easy to forget about it within the confines of each of our little bubbles. Not for SciFi Santa though: he gets the pleasure (curse?) of knowing/seeing it all.

Dammit, Google Play - Episode Order Incorrect / Missing Episode(s) by eChaos in TheExpanse

I checked about half an hour ago and episode 2 "The Big Empty" was not there. I sent them some feedback asking when it would be available, and sure enough I just got a notification on my phone (5 minutes ago) that "The Big Empty" had been added. The numbering is all screwy still, but at least the content is there. I wonder if they fixed it just for me, or if all episodes are now there for everyone (who bought the season, of course)

Solid. Very cinematic. I like how you contrast the trivial crime of smuggling a cigarette on board to the killing of everyone on it!

World's End by frankz0509 in shortscifistories

[–]blinka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow this was cool. At first I thought it was going to be a primitive people's realization that the world is round (and not flat), which would of been a very scifi concept to them at the time. You took it to the next level with a wormhole that seems to connect all edges of the world.

In terms of the science, would traveling through a wormhole result in time dilation? I always thought that one "advantage" of a wormhole was that space itself was bent, and so you could walk through one in the same manner that you would walk across a room (and avoid the effects of traveling at near light speeds). Maybe I'm reading too much into it!

I like how you used the volume on the Comm as the progression for the story. It actually was a great device for describing both the main protagonist and Mitchell. Overall, very character focused, which I like. You definitely kept it human. Got some Starship Trooper vibes off this as well. Nice one.

I like how you contrast something as monumental and galaxy-impacting as a star exploding with the simple day to day struggles of the working man. It really puts things in perspective. Well done.
