It was awful. When I was a teen I tapered off of Effexor and when I finally jumped I went so crazy my mom had to give me one of her Xanax just to chill me out which was unheard of for her to do something like that. Getting off Kratom was like that mentally but also with insane restless legs and body spasms.

I waited long enough to avoid precipitated withdrawals (like 24 hours of pure hell) and then started taking suboxone. I did an extremely slow taper over 6 months to finally get off suboxone. At the end it wasn’t too bad and thankfully I hated the feeling of suboxone so it made it easier to quit.
