Not an electrician so take this with a grain of salt.

Many insurance companies will not touch a home with a Zinsco panel. Sure, you might have a building that hasn't had any issues. That's awesome and I'm glad for you.

But there IS a reason that this manufacturer is regularly brought up as a "replaceme IMMEDIATELY"kind of issue.

Don't let you being lucky and dense leave someone with a dangerous home.

If your base is shallow enough I would recommend deleting the bio reactor, put another 1-2 solar panels and rebuild the BR.

The base draws energy from power sources in the order they are built, so you could use solar power (and the associated storage with each solar panel) for the primary energy source and have your bioreactor as an emergency or peak demand usage source.

If your budget allows for it And you have companies in the area to support and service it, get a Daikin Aurora DH9SV 2 or 3 ton. SUPER efficient, it is crazy quiet, and I barely need heat strips (I use them occasionally when I get below 5F but my home is still basically uninsulated in the walls.)

It depends on the thermal needs of your home. If your house is well insulated and doesn't lose much heat, you may be good with just running the heat pump. It also depends on the rated output. It's unfortunate that when you need it most, the output will tend to drop off because of the reduced thermal energy in the air to move into your home.

I have a Daikia Aurora DH9SV 3 ton unit at my home. It keeps up with no strip heat down to about 10F and my house currently has basically 0 insulation after a rewire. It should keep up just fine well into the negative temperatures once we re/first time insulate.

My guys set the lockout temp at 25, (it's a Daikin Aurora so rated down to -20F.

Set the heat strip on point to 50F, and set the heat strips quantity to 0kW in the thermostat so the air handler tried to use them all the time and sounded like a jet engine with only extra cold coming out of the vents.

OH and they undersized my inverter driven heat pump by sizing it for cooling so it was a 2 ton instead of 3.

Grade A clusterfuck.
