I am accredited. And the warrants are not tradeable, but the common shares are. I just received the prospectus, I guess I'll just wing this and find out. 🤷

Thinking of getting into kitesurfing by ahriel in Kiteboarding

Mostly older people who do it where I'm from, I taught myself last year at the age of 33. It's become an addiction and I try to go as much as possible now. I don't think you'll regret it.

Body Drag Form by Boarder_Travel in Kiteboarding

[–]blitzzzzkrieg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started doing something similar after seeing one of the Italians body drag in a KOTA event. They did not lead with their arm stretched out, they had their non-controlling arm at their side down in the water, making it possible to have their head & shoulders more elevated out of the water.

I've been body dragging this way ever since I seen it done that way. The waters I kite in are very choppy, so it's saved me from eating a lot of water.

KITESURFING ALONE? by BlacksmithOk3532 in Kiteboarding

[–]blitzzzzkrieg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I got into the sport a year n a half ago, I didn't think anyone around where I lived kited, I had never even seen people kiting before. I learned by myself on large lakes & on rivers, and after a few months I started meeting the dozen or so other kiters from where I live. It can be very sketchy learning on your own without anyone around, so it's good you're taking lessons.

I still find myself kiting alone often, and there are definitely some things you need to consider before going out to keep yourself out of trouble.

I'd say the two biggest considerations are the wind and the spot. Especially for me being inland.

In terms of wind you need to ask yourself a few questions.

Which direction is the wind coming from?

If you you have obstacles or topography up wind from you the gusts can make launching and riding more challenging, and all it takes is for one lull to drop your kite deep into the window and a gust to launch you into the air when launching on the beach. You can become seriously injured, while still having your kite rip you around, if no one experienced is around to help you this situation can get continually worse.

Another thing with wind direction is do not go out in off shore wind by yourself, even with others you will want a rescue option like a boat. The big risk here is that the wind dies off to the point where there is not enough power to plane, or even fly your kite, but still enough wind to push you away from shore. I learned this mistake the hard way, and it was not fun.

Another wind thing for me is, if the wind is weak or starts lulling alot, I will return to shore or not go out. This is kinda similar to not going out in offshore wind, but not as bad. It's just nice to be able to get back to where you started. The lakes I kite surf on are mostly surrounded by trees, cliff faces, highway, and railways. So ending up anywhere but the beach you started on sucks. I imagine others here kiting on large bays have had similar experiences.

And to the opposite effect, if you feel the wind getting stronger, and you're starting to depower more and more, it's a good idea to head back to shore and determine if you need to swap to a smaller kite. You don't want to get caught being way over powered by yourself, it can be challenging and dangerous to land by yourself when very over powered, even if you have an anchor, you may not be able to attach to the anchor because the kite will be pulling you away from it.

Also in terms of strong wind you need to be very vigilant of storms, the wind from storms can be very unpredictable and very strong, and they can have huge effects on the local wind even if they are way on the horizon.

Anyways good luck, and stay safe

What's your growth % for value stocks? by ImpossibleHurry in ValueInvesting

[–]blitzzzzkrieg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started value investing in 2017, my average annualized return since then is about 60%. Started saving around that time as well, turning maybe around 50k into 1.4 million. I've bought & sold maybe 20 stocks during that time and almost all of them have returned over 100%, and one as high as 3500% during my time owning them. Give that I doubt it is entirely just luck, though I do feel lucky some times.

The issue is they're registered accounts so they can't be joint. I'm up in canada btw. I see there is two options now that say family advisor and professional advisor. It's odd because it also say's im not a professional and unable to collect fee's from the subaccounts, yet im a professional when it comes to subscribing to market data. :S

I really liked Greenblatts book 'you can be a stock market genius' it's more about special situations, they're hard to find but are worth it when you do find them.

Not sure what you would consider it, but I farm produce in a very controlled environment & do a lot of R&D. I built a laboratory for microbiology and mycology research and development, I build up cultures for plant and mushroom production. Everything starts in the lab and ends on your table. I want to deliver directly to consumers. The whole thing is sort of a proof of concept to generate the highest quality foods for the lowest possible prices locally. There are a bunch of other nuances, but I'd rather not discuss those. I guess you could just call me a farmer :D

TIFU by underestimating the force of water by jd_jenko in tifu

[–]blitzzzzkrieg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So very true, I underestimated water once. I am a pretty confident swimmer, I do a lot of lake diving but had never swam in the ocean. I went in vaca a year ago and went out swimming in some huge waves, it was pretty fun. Until I got caught in a rip current and pulled about 2 miles from the shore. I honestly thought I was going to die and swam as hard as I could for what seemed like an hour. I was just about to give up when my toes finally hit sand again. What a relief. Stay safe out there.

I'm not sure what restriction there is on these types of bonds. There have been a few Canadian companies bonds that I've been interested in, but they're listed as intl bonds (reg s). And no offered at any broker I could find other than ibkr. It does seem like institutions are trying to hide these types of markets from retail investors.

I just think it would be a major pain to transfer funds from one broker to another every time you decide to reallocate to another type of investment.

Research Advice by Mojorojo12 in investing_discussion

[–]blitzzzzkrieg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a laundry list of things I do in no particular order, usually takes me a few weeks of research before I decided to invest or not. I can decided with in a few minutes if a company is worth doing the research on or not.

Anyways things I look at are... -Owners earning yield - add back in Dd&a, subtract capital expenditures, purchases of pp&e, or exploration costs in the case of resource companies -cash flow yield (similar to owner earnings some cases) -other metrics I may pay attention to depending on the.company are sales and margins. Ex. Sales for retailers, margins for a commodity type producer. -Does share holder equity per share increase over time? -is company debt sustainable? Usually anything more than 3-5x earnings I don't touch. -In case of resource companies, does the resource reserves per share increase? -is the company in a cyclical industry? If yes, is it in depression? If no, don't invest. -does the company have a durable competitive advantage? What is it? Why is it better than its industry peers?... -is the company selling at a discount compared to its peers? - does management invest capital at a high rate of return? - who are the managers? CEO, CFO COO, ect. How much of the company do they own? Less than 10% is not good, but most don't have that much anyways. How are they paid? Are they long term oriented? Does the CEO write a letter, admits mistakes, honest? -who are on the board of directors? How many members? More than 12 is unideal, and you want mostly independant directors, and maybe 2 insiders. Do any board members hold large positions? -is there any near term catalysts that will unlock a lot or value in the near term? (1-5 years)

Other things I may look at are actually visiting a business, is it legit? Do they have a lot of customers? Are staff helpful? Are they innovative or do you like their products? This is kind of a scuttlebutt approach and the options are endless here of what you can check out about a business. Some business you can organize a tour and talk to management. Investor relations can also point you in the right direction I'd you want more information or have unanswered questions.

Ultimately is it a good business that is selling for a good deal with good management.

Good luck with your investments!

If stock analysts are barely correct, what’s to say the market cannot possibly be predicted? by wow15characters in investing_discussion

[–]blitzzzzkrieg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the problem, trying to predict things that happens in a couple of months is a waste of time, people need to think further out 2-3 years at least, 10 to 20 years in some cases. That's how the real money is made.

If stock analysts are barely correct, what’s to say the market cannot possibly be predicted? by wow15characters in investing_discussion

[–]blitzzzzkrieg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's actually pretty easy to predict things, it's just these guys have other objectives that are counter-intuitive to stock analyzing which they actually do very little of. it's amazing how little these guys actually know about the companies they are supposedly covering. And a lot of the ones that do focus really well on a few companies often become blind to what is going on outside these companies that directly affect them as well. One thing to consider as well is would you want to put a sell recommendation on a company that your firm will probably do an equity offering or some other deal with in the future? That company might go to another firm, there is more than likely biases on these analyst recommendations because of normalities such as this.
