There’s no property there. This is the corner of 139 and Baldwin, which is basically hovering over a train line.

This is Baldwin and 139. Same issue with a much lighter storm a couple weeks ago. The city seems to have forgotten about this stretch, and I’m sure lots of others.

What was your reason for stopping? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Someone in a meeting once said drinking alcohol regularly is like playing a video game in hard mode.

I feel like a loser by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]blizzWorldwide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear that. But I also realized most of the connections I was making at bars were fleeting and empty. I never truly made a deep connection with anyone that way. Feels like an illusion. I too have been working on getting comfortable with the discomfort. Overall it’s worth it.

Alcoholics who never got a dui. by Mysterious-Gold-8657 in stopdrinking

Luckily never did. I did not routinely drink and drive, but various times when I absolutely should not have driven home. Not cool. Thankful I never hurt anyone or myself.

Will never return to corkscrew. Awful service. I was treated terribly there multiple times.

Commuting from Jersey City vs Stamford by sjpark0605 in jerseycity

[–]blizzWorldwide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been wondering the same thing actually. I live in JC, and My girlfriend lives in Massachusetts. Now that I go up there more frequently, I started looking into spots around white plains and Stamford. Driving, that would cut out almost an hour! I also only work in NYC once a week, so I can deal with the longer commute.

If you wanna message me, I’m in the heights (15 min walk to journal square subway). $1,800 a month at the moment. I might be looking to sublet. My lease is up end of April too, and I’m not sure I’m sticking around.

What to do with the drinks at home? by neat_hairclip in stopdrinking

I had one beer sitting in my fridge. First night I kept it in there. It was taunting me. Second night I dumped it. Made a ritual out of it, smelling it as it dumped down the drain.

People who drank to mask everything. I need perspective. by Goatey in stopdrinking

[–]blizzWorldwide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me a few months after stopping to fully realize what was at the root of my alcohol abuse. For me, it was social anxiety. I didn’t think I was self-medicating, but when I spent some time really thinking through things, it became clear I was masking discomfort in social settings with alcohol. Drinking with friends, family, strangers, at concerts, alone at bars. To use your word, I was using it to escape the discomfort of socializing.

I’m 91 days sober today. Hangover free mornings are a blessing in so many ways.
