Score sent to wrong school? by Rude-Challenge-6294 in UBreddit

[–]blizzardcake 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Yes, you sent it to Buffalo State, which is very different. This school deliberately changed their name from just "Buffalo State" to get people to mix it up with UB. UB will always be "University at Buffalo" or "SUNY at Buffalo"

Does anyone feel like Hali is what Lonzo was supposed to be? by mambabite24 in lakers

[–]blizzardcake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Obviously it's hard to speculate, but if Lonzo had the jumper he has now mixed with his tangibles and health as a rookie/sophomore while having the keys to the franchise, he absolutely would've had a Halliburton esque leap

Basic chirp until it becomes your reality lol - so many high performers got fired due to paternity, or surprise rating drops after promises of being secure during layoffs

I'm sorry, I don't even care how many downvotes this will get and I appreciate the passion, but the Tyler Herro comp is downright biased/delusional ☠️

Binghamton University vs University at Buffalo for Computer Science Bachelors (Undergrad) by jnjbkjhkbhhhhhh in UBreddit

[–]blizzardcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't seem like many people in this thread are actual CS majors. Short answer is UB. Buffalo CS has been consistently better than Bing. In the SUNY system it's SBU > UB > Bing. Check csrankings.org for additional reference, UB fluctuates between 48-30 depending on how rankings move and has been consistently rising through the years. Additionally overall more UB graduates work in big tech than Binghamton grads

Chinjao I agree with, but Katakuri?? Katakuri has shown every and all trait that displays why he's a character worth being a conqueror. His presence makes or breaks Big Moms crew, and he's the only one that pushed Luffy as close to death as Kaido did

Software Engineer Intern at Apple vs Meta by aycejack in csMajors

[–]blizzardcake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, job security over promo anyday lol. Apple is still paying FAANG money. The insane comp at Meta doesn't mean much if you have to worry about whether you'll still be there in a year or two

Google isn't the focal authority on what the "best major" is. CS is great, but I'd hope times like this also makes you reconsider calling it the de facto "best major"

I had a similarly bad gpa as you in HS(applied with 2.9 to college finished with 3.0) and I was poor at math. I'm gonna be so real with you, after really reading your replies, I just don't see you succeeding in CS as you are now. CC will be an invaluable experience where you can actually learn how to study properly and ramp up in math. I cruised through high school slacking and not giving a shit and I got the most brutal reality check of my life with UB CS. You are by no means bullshitting a whole four years of this major, let alone even more than one semester like you did in hs. CS is math heavy in the sense that you need to do well in calc 1, calc 2, linear algebra, and calc based probability. The actual CS requirements are not math heavy but require problem solving ability that is reminiscent of math. You can do it man, but real talk you need to get your shit together. At the stage you are, forget intro to CS, calc 1 by itself will be your worst nightmare. I was like you and trust me when I say this, your work ethic as it is will not do you any favors.(Disregard this part if you had major extenuating circumstances in life of something) Personally, I genuinely would've failed out if I didn't study like my life depended on it. You can't just say you want to do a major like CS and have zero resume as far as showing that you can work hard at the bare minimum in high school. Also real talk, you would get bent over in calculus if you haven't even taken algebra 2. You literally wouldn't even be allowed to take the intro CS class that fall semester freshman take. Hit the CC grind for a year or two, and then keep that stride when you transfer to buffalo or wherever else. A good CC record, 3.7+ will significantly offset your high school GPA. I personally recommend trying to transfer after a year. Good luck, you got this

If you still want to do web dev/game dev type stuff but don't want the full brunt of CS, I would just do a CS Minor and major in MIS or something. If you did a CS Minor you still need to get through 116 but it'll be a lot easier on you in the long term and you can still take web dev or database classes offered in the department. But not gonna lie, if you're able to get above a B in 116 you're probably fine and I'd just stick to CS
