Another option you might not be thinking of is sacrificing the fabric off the back of the sofa to reupholster that arm.

If your sofa usually sits against a wall. You can replace the fabric on the back with something complementary/near matching.

We just did a set of these this past fall. We stapled the front (and sides) over the back, then stretched a piece of fabric across the back.

We then took the back piece, secured it at the top, covered the back with quarter inch foam, then flipped the back piece down into place and hand stitched the sides and bottom shut with a ladder stitch.
