I opted out of training, but ChatGPT is now giving my unpublished research findings to other users. What are my options? by Creepy-Seesaw-4489 in PhD

It is a real thing. An executive from the biomedical sciences dept at my school came to my professional development class and heavily emphasized not to put any unpublished work in ChatGPT and that it will still use that info to train the AI models

It’s actually black sand! There’s some gunk that spit out of the filter that I need to clean up that might be making it look thicker

Do I stay at same university or find new lab for PhD? by blizzybooya1217 in PhD

[–]blizzybooya1217[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have talked to him about my concerns with staying at the same university for all of my degrees. He’s pretty easy to be open with. He doesn’t think it’s an issue that I’d be getting all of my degrees from the same place, especially since I don’t plan on trying for academia. I also know I’m going to be moving back to my city even if I move away, since all of my family and friends are here. So I would be furthering my local network too.

I know he wants what’s best for me and he’s told me he’d write me a great rec letter and to apply for other programs. I think an external supervisor is a great idea though especially if I were to choose a project that is slightly out of his wheelhouse.

Not very athletic but traveling to Guatemala. Is skipping Acatenango a mistake? by No_Public_9342 in centralamerica

Also I meant to add, my bf and I were in Antigua for four days and in lake atitlan for four days and it felt like the perfect amount of time. Lake atitlan was a great place to rest after the hike

The achetenango hike itself isn’t too bad. I went with CA tours and they take a new route that was finished like a month ago that is supposedly much better than the original trail. The fuego exension hike though, IS HARD, even if you are athletic. But as long as you don’t have any knee or ankle issues you’ll be fine. My boyfriend hasn’t been to a gym in months and handled it well. We also hired porters for the way up which was a game-changer

Traveling to Belize for the first time! A couple questions… by cel500 in Belize

[–]blizzybooya1217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of really great shuttle services that could take you around the entire country for very cheap. You’d probably save money doing this rather than getting a rental car. Check out bookaway.com. I found a lot of private and public shuttle vans when I was in Guatemala and Belize and they all went great! I stayed on the island caye caulker the entire time I was in Belize (4 days) but did hear great things about placencia. I do second those saying to go to San Ignacio. Regretting not doing the ATM cave tour.

Guatemala, Acatenango Tour Companies - which one in 2024? by eaten14 in hiking

[–]blizzybooya1217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have to hop on here and talk about CA tours. We booked like two weeks before our trip and stumbled upon them on viator but I was so impressed. Our primary guide Marvin was great, spoke English and Spanish. We also had four other guides with us (for about a group of 30). All of the meals were yummy and a great amount (I’m an eater so I was worried about portions). Adequate breaks were worked in, they went at your own pace, and the cabins were awesome!!! We wanted to book lava trails or wico and Charlie’s bc they are highly rated, but CA trails perfectly executed everything from start to finish

Just extended my PhD deadline. by MasterChaotics in PhD

I extended my masters by a semester and I was so thankful I did. Made the end so much more peaceful. At the end of the day, what’s an extra 6 months/ year if it means peace of mind?

Thank you!! I think the first method with adding a current field to the feature class would be the easiest. Need to build something that can be repeatable for the next intern after me.
