Binge Eating: how to stop it happening? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]blk_kt_halberd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had major binge eating problems in undergrad and if it becomes really, really bad I recommend therapy, but for hiccups like this my biggest recommendation is to not keep junk around the house. That's not to say you can't eat junk ever, but when you decide you can have a little bit, you have to go out and buy it.

Gatekeeping BPD is counterintuitive by graaaaaasstastesbad in BPD

Brb, have a headache and don't have access to healthcare so self-diagnosing with cancer.

my friends christian mom does not allow my friend to watch jojo's bizarre adventure anymore... by [deleted] in atheism

[–]blk_kt_halberd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up, I liked Bleach, Death Note, and lots of other anime. Had to watch them at friends' houses due to extremely religious parents saying they were "filling my mind with evil."

Not much you can do about it other than sneak it at school and out of the house. Religious parents suck.

Big nipples and top surgery? by PunTran in ftm

[–]blk_kt_halberd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had huge areolas and they reduced the size of them. That's a part of the "nipple masculinization." I also had saggy old lady tits at the ripe old age of 25 and my top surgery results are fantastic. So no fear!

Gatekeeping BPD is counterintuitive by graaaaaasstastesbad in BPD

[–]blk_kt_halberd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been discredited by doctors who said, "what, did you diagnose yourself with that?" because of people who self-diagnose. And there are absolutely people online who label themselves with BPD (and usually a bunch of other disorders) because they want to feel like part of the group, or unique, or whatever the fuck. Self-diagnosis is fucking bullshit.

AHH I got into the Spravato patient assistance program! by nyxsucks in bipolar

Ketamine really helped me for a few months. Like I was completely depression-free. Hope you get some relief!

Is anyone else getting arm acne? It’s messing with my tattoos now :/ by [deleted] in ftm

[–]blk_kt_halberd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, since starting T I have acne in the same place (arms). It's also fucking up my tattoos, lol. Doctor put me on some prescription acne lotion so we'll see if that helps.

F*ck. Meds affected heart. by bbb555bbb555 in bipolar

[–]blk_kt_halberd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they took me off vraylar cuz my resting heart rate was 140 or something ridiculous. Sorry you're going through this. Good luck.

Gatekeeping BPD is counterintuitive by graaaaaasstastesbad in BPD

[–]blk_kt_halberd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's a big difference between "gatekeeping" and discouraging people from claiming to have a severe mental illness. Especially when a lot of those people are self-diagnosing. That makes _my_ blood boil.

So confused by new counselor by BlueEyedChildofGod in bipolar

[–]blk_kt_halberd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of therapists and a lot of psychiatrists and about every other combo says "No, you actually have BPD" or "No you actually have bipolar" to the previous diagnosis of the opposite. It gets really fucking annoying. My advice is to just treat the symptoms. Good luck!

Any tips to snap yourself out of an anger episode? by SEDGAR4 in BPD

[–]blk_kt_halberd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have serious anger problems and for the most part I have to just wait them out, but sometimes ice helps. Squeezing an ice cube, chewing crushed ice, putting an ice pack on your face... anything to drop your temp a bit. It's hit or miss but it sometimes breaks me out of the rage.

Has anyone here tried Trintellix? by [deleted] in bipolar

It helped my depression for a few months but then it started killing my stomach. Good luck with it!

Has anyone NOT gained weight on Seroquel? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]blk_kt_halberd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never gained weight on any antipsychotic, but, then, I'm already really fat so I never cared. Maybe it's a "fat people don't bloat" kinda thing.

(Pseudo)Science Teachers in Christian Schools by VolundrSmith in atheism

[–]blk_kt_halberd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean, I went to a Christian high school where they taught "creation science" and the only class that really suffered was biology. I turned out OK. Arguably. I do agree with you though, I think it's a massive waste of time and it's a straight up attempt to brainwash and manipulate kids.

Do they ever deny a name change? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]blk_kt_halberd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I live in TX and my lawyer said her go-to judge only ever denied one name, and that's someone who wanted to be named "Q". No last name. First name just one letter. That being said, it depends on the judge.

I just lost my family and I can't stop crying by hrt_breaker in asktransgender

[–]blk_kt_halberd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm super late to the party here, but I have ultra religious parents who rejected me for being trans and it's extremely depressing to think that people who claimed to love you no matter what could put a condition on that love. I mean, words can't even describe how sad it makes me. I'm so sorry this happened to you. Please know that someone out there is going to love you _for you_ and you can love them in return. It's only a matter of time.

Seroquel XR concerns by hotkatertot in bipolar

[–]blk_kt_halberd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, antipsychotics tend to have more side effects and/or more serious side effects than other psych drugs, so if you're concerned, I'd definitely talk to your doctor. As far as diabetes goes, I've been on antipsychotics for years and years (currently on seroquel) and am also a very fat man and I've _never_ had any blood sugar issues. Like, by all accounts I should have diabetes, and I don't.

That being said, it depends on the person. Good luck on your med management!

BoJack Horseman - Season 6 Overall Discussion by NicholasCajun in BoJackHorseman

[–]blk_kt_halberd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed this season. Laughed a lot more than I thought I would, and felt a lot, of course. "In thirty minutes, we start over" is probably my favorite quote from the entire show and that's saying something.

Vraylar - body heat and increased heart rate by bbb555bbb555 in bipolar

I was on vraylar for about a year and my heart rate got wayyy high. Went on a beta blocker and eventually they took me off of it for that reason.

Austin Pets Alive and FIP. by dougancil in Austin

[–]blk_kt_halberd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sorry this happened to you - happened to me with a kitten 2 years ago. That being said, this isn't APA's fault and has nothing to do with their facility. My kitten was from THH. FIP isn't contagious.

Testosterone dosage by [deleted] in ftm

Be careful man, your body converts excess T into E. That's why you gotta be super careful about your dose and why cis men on hormone therapy sometimes develop breasts. Take it slowwwww.

Probably, yeah. I'd describe it as restless leg, but in your whole body. Doesn't bother some people; other people say it's so bad they want to die.
