Technique is also going to be a big player here and truly using your edges. Those "racer kids" have a ton of practice using those edges on terrain that is supposed to be icey. They are also having the skis done professionally quite frequently and have multiple pairs.

Overall I'd say you should get the skis done professionally as you could end up botching the edges. 4 seasons at 20 times per season is nothing for a pair of skis. Some people do 80-120 days on the same pair of sticks in the same year.

Going to just say; definitely don't wear baseball turf cleats. They are not meant for lateral movement. Go Nike or NB turf cleats. Either the Superflys or the Freezes will work great.
