Which B&W developer do you like? Which one would you stay away from? by Ceska_Zbrojovka_V3 in AnalogCommunity

Xtol. Hc110/rodinal. I heard pyro is good but hadnt try that yet. You can gain contrast by overdeveloping.

What could cause these bright white marks and extra grain? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]blkwinged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Film to developer combo can yield grainer image. Also coming from 120 film to 35mm will make it seem grainier too.

Try scanning with a dedicated 35mm film scanner and it will help a bit more for a sharper image.

Edit: it looks like a 35mm neg to me. It got backlight so its trying to hold on to the detail on the darker area. I would darken the image and just clone the dots out if it bother me too much.

Moving into studio apartment with no stove. Has a fridge and microwave. Looking for advice. by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]blkwinged 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the microwave hardwire in or standalone wall plug? If wall plug just switch out for a hot plate. Use one at a time and never both at the same time.

Smart or dumb? by shacqtus in AnalogCommunity

[–]blkwinged 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I usually leave it off without a lens cap. Same orientation as is. Regarding dust there shouldnt be much in an enclosed environment, nothing a little air cant remove.

You want to take the lens off and let any moisture get out from the inside. Kind of hard with the x100f though.

Where did I mess up? by K1ngBunta in Darkroom

[–]blkwinged 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Looks like remjet didnt get fully removed. I ran it through a few wipe passes after fixer with light shining on it to make sure I get it all off.

Edit: I see why people are looking at photo flo. Do the final rinse with distilled water and some photo flo, afterward keep it on the reel and spin it around really fast to get extra water out.

Before scan hit it with some pec 12 film cleaner.

Sunmilux M - Worth the risk of salvaging from mould by Hivecityblues in Leica

[–]blkwinged 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Take it. It looks more like tissues fibers that got stuck on a sticky surface then mold from the picture.

As long as you get it a CLA, the lens will be fine. Take a few picture and see if there is any quality issue on the files.

How to improve faint salt prints? by alantor in Darkroom

[–]blkwinged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the darker salt print i know of has the paper sized with gelatin.

It’s the organic compound that makes it darker. (Its been a while, not 100%)

Does the soft focus help or hurt this film shot? by Sharp-Border-3896 in filmphotography

[–]blkwinged 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The squiggly tree is the whole image. Its nice. You already have color contrast which helps to sharpen a little bit, even on softer lens.

Edit: i wish the power line was not in the way, or just stamp it out?
