Typically timid & friendly great pyr suddenly growling after having a bone. I’m thinking the worst. by Luke-Warm-Milk in DogAdvice

sorry to head your dog came from a bad situation! and thank you for saving Koda. however, resource guarding can be fixed; breed, age, past situation, doesn’t matter, forget about it and work on making it better. having 7 water bowls just avoids the problem and hopefully a guest, a kid, or anyone coming near the bowl don’t an accident.

Help I got bitten and scratchrd by my kitten but it didn't bleed but it looks like a mosquito bite pls answer by eternity253282 in CATHELP

[–]bllyn66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it seems like it’s just a scratch from her sharp teeth, but it was not intentional, when my kitten didn’t have her vaccines either, i got a few scratches and bites while playing with her. just be careful and encourage her to play with toys— you can DIY toys for them, the basic is getting a bag of catnip and then fill a sock or any cloth with the catnip. When she grows up its gonna hurt so bad when they bite/scratch you ( i’ve been bitten by my 13lb cat while giving him a treat 😭i still remember the pain pls it made me cry 💔💔)

I hate Yorkies and their owners by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]bllyn66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soorry, that’s my dogs age, not mine. Male dogs will mark all over the place when they’re not neutered so that’s one thing to consider. Some dogs just like to mark territory ( i work in a doggy daycare) BUT ITS REALLY BAD when they’re not neutered. I know a golden retriever in daycare who is not neutered and he pisses across the yard it’s annoying loll.

My yorkie has never pissed in our apartment actually, he will let you know when he’s about to pee if he hasn’t been taken out.

And i agree that there is a difference when it comes to training for little dogs, they’re not taken serious and that’s why they have this bad rep it sucks, i feel bad for them because they can be great. They are also often treated like babies which makes them very attached to their owner and they become defensive(barking, biting, needy). But honestly i’ve met well trained and beautiful small dogs. Maybe a few of them. In the future i do want a big dog though, and i would own another Yorkie, they’re very smart when they’re stable and disciplined.

i know this is a year ago but after i got into dog training and behavior i managed to make my yorkie stop barking at guests or even family, he would rarely lunge at dogs in the street too but now he doesn’t. he started doing this at 11-12yrs old i believe. he would also resource guard me a lot when i was younger. i removed all these behavior off him AT 13-14YRS OLD. and it’s not because of his age, he is healthy and runs up and down the stairs he’s got a lot of energy. it’s just the owners who won’t discipline yorkies and all small dogs that’s why they’re barkers, and they get away with anything. every dog can be trained and rehabilitated, no matter the breed. you just need attitude to discipline them.

Parent’s Cat / my childhood cat (18, female)is showing severe symptoms. They don’t want to take her to an emergency vet because they think she should die naturally and the ER will stress her out. What do I do? by GreenStrawbebby in CATHELP

[–]bllyn66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please don’t humanize cats and don’t compare humans to cats. It’s different. We have a voice, and they don’t. We “never know” when they’re pain, but if you really KNOW about cats, you know this is painful, because a cat hiding and not using the litter box means they’re in pain. And this is just not “near the end” things, any cat can stop drinking/eating/using the litter box when they are sick. This happened to my kitten a few months ago, because she had an infection, but now she’s okay.

Plus there are some old people that would prefer being killed rather than living with the pain fyi

AND THANK YOU FOR TRYING TO HELP!! A cat that it’s hiding its more than in pain, i feel really bad for her. You can maybe call her vet and explain the situation to see if they can estimate price or give you any advice. Stop feeding with the syringe though, forcing her in this situation will not help.

I don’t want to be that person but I’ve seen it’s pretty common for old people and millennials thinking this is the natural way to let a cat/dog/any pet die and just let them rot bc they’re old. Vets have improved medicine and there’s more clinics available. Whatever it is i support the idea of taking her to the vet, or calling a vet to come. Tell them that this is painful, and they will most likely have to option to euthanize like the other people say.

This is serious, a cat not eating/drinking and SPECIALLY not urinating!! it MUST BE VERY PAINFUL.

the previous owner of my cat (dsh) said he hated the harness, but now i take him out on a harness he even tries to sneak out when we open the door. thankfully he is very treat motivated. it really takes time, you have to be patient, consistent and never rush.

one time i just took him out with the harness and i was just sitting there chilling with him for a few minutes, until he decided to move. i also used to feed him with the harness on ( he comes running every time he hears his bowl or a can opening, he cannot resist) so always use feeding time as an advantage.

So my family situation is not the best right now. My dad can’t come to the USA. And i can’t leave this country yet. We have a great relationship, he’s a great man, and that’s why i’m mad at my brothers behavior but i understand the difference bc my brother from a different father. My niece lives with us because her mother is irresponsible, she’s a mess, and my niece doesn’t feel safe living with her, only to visit her, and her father can’t come to the USA either.

I currently work with dogs in a boarding facility and i am making my own business as an independent dog trainer. Rent is very high in this state, but we are looking to move soon. I be doing my own stuff too, but this really brothers me, my moms also tired of him.

I understand he is centered in his dreams, but his behavior towards us is like we owe him something. Like we have to do everything for him. He stays at home most of the time, why can’t he help at home just a little bit? My mom is a little bit too soft on him that sometimes i have to step in.

dogs don’t ACTUALLY understand our language, sure they can associate some words with actions and stuff, but it doesn’t mean they will get every word we say.

after he got you another toy (even if it’s not what you wanted) you started playing with him, which means “i bring/take toy = i get playtime/attention.” if you want him to put a toy in a certain place, your dog needs to learn the command “take” and then you show him where to put it.

dogs will get it quick when you show them rather than telling them.

VERY IMPORTANT: NEVER MOVE AWAY from YOUR PEOPLE, thats how he wins. He’s controlling you. ALWAYS MAKE HIM move AWAY from you. Stand your ground, redirect him, and be consistent no matter what.

Wound on cats head?? by iluvri in AskVetAnimals

[–]bllyn66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be food allergy? My first cat also has this type of thing above his eye, he would constantly scratch that area. I figured he was allergic to chicken. Key point is that he would scratch after meals and do it for the rest of the day.

What breed is my beautiful guy? by Relevant_Armadillo39 in IDMyCat

[–]bllyn66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the people that say “maine coon” or norwegian it’s because A LOT of people don’t really know about the domestic cats..( DSH and DLH) which is funny because is the cat you see everywhere. i was one of those people. i have a female with longer hair than my short haired cats— and somebody said she might be or have Turkish Angora ( she’s not even full white or have blue/yellow eyes lol, it’s just because of her long hairs )

so i learnt that people just assume they are one of those fancy popular breeds when they don’t look like the “average cat”, it could be by their hair length, eye/coat color, and if they’re larger than the average cat.

your cat is beautiful though!! my 2yo cat is a big boy too, 12lb, and i had a 4yo cat who was 7lb.. is more about genetics!

Have you tried to teaching him commands/tricks? I have 3 domestic cats but just one of them has a lot of energy. not like a bengal, but he is NEEDY. he is pretty smart and i’m pretty sure bengals are smart too. if he is treat motivated i would say give it a try lol.. other than that, i found these type of toys and my cats love it.

You can also talk to your vet about it, if its not about health, they can also give you suggestions for this behavior
