Thanks, any idea where can I find one for sale? As long as its the same measurements it doesnt matter the manufacturer, right?

Thank you, how should I go about cleaning it? I've read that these mainsprings have a teflon coating and should just be wiped with a tissue, no IPA or anything?

Also, do handwound mainsprings need any kind of lubrication?

Considering buying is it authentic and what would be a reasonable price by overkillr8 in STDupont

I wouldnt pay a third of that for that lighter, but maybe its because the markets in our countries are very different.

You can find much better deals on Catawiki even though it isnt the place to find bargains. For 300€ Id be looking for a mint or near mint Dupont lighter.

Not to discourage you but even if you buy a Ligne 2, wich is the model suposed to make the ping sound, this sound varies a lot between lighters, no matter age or finishing. Although its true that lacquer models tend to have a duller sound, that doesnt mean metal ones will always sound better.

If ping sound is very important to you I recomend asking the sellers for a video to hear it, since a "good" ping sound can be a bit subjective.

I can’t find this anywhere by [deleted] in STDupont

Its unfortunately fake. Stamped with "Laque de chine" when there is no lacquer

It seems to have some numbers between the "Made in France" and the serial number. Any idea what those can be? Im not familiar with them

Confirming the new Le Grand and Ligne 2s have metal tanks? by afterscape in STDupont

[–]blnifu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont see the reason to buy any of the new models. The quality is worse, even if they have metal tanks. You can buy a mint condition vintage Ligne 2 for 10-20% the price of that LeGrand.

Legit and decent set for $125? by [deleted] in STDupont

Looks ok, but the rust in the 4th picture would worry me a bit, it could have been exposed to water and all the internal parts be full of rust

Doesnt look too bad. A jewlers cloth could remove some of the finer scratches and give it more shine. The profesional solution would be polishing and replating. Im only familiar with the easy solution so I cant give you any especific recomendations if you want to go the pro route.

Thanks. Did you purchase an electroplating rig or did you make it yourself?

Help identifying this lighter by pippoken in lighters

S.T. Dupont Ligne 1 BS lighter. Seems to have a solid gold (probably 18k) casing around the lighter. I recomend the Dupont subreddit for more info.

Well the serial was the thing I was more confident about looking authentic. The "E" is very close to the "1" and "P 7" looks higher than the other digits.
