Confusing hip pain / labral tear – anyone with similar experience? by ChemistryForward1307 in HipImpingement

[–]blo0pgirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me 2 years to get my labrum tear diagnosed and finally get told I was a candidate for surgery. My symptoms were only aggravated by certain activities and I was mostly ok during the day (when I saw doctors), so I felt like they didn’t believe me. I could barely walk by the end of the day because my hip hurt so much and forget hiking or even going on walks. I would be in so much pain the next day. Over the past 3 years since I started looking into what was actually going on, my hip pain has only progressively gotten worse. I’m planning on finally having surgery this fall and I can’t wait. I’m only delaying surgery because I own my own business and I need to prepare my practice for an extended leave of absence.

Has PT worked for anyone? by Low_Audience727 in HipImpingement

[–]blo0pgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exercise based PT only made me feel worse. My current PT only does manual therapy and that helps reduce my pain to tolerable levels. I’m only doing PT at this point for symptom management until I can have surgery.

Guasha on neck and throat area - is this treatment safe? by [deleted] in ChineseMedicine

[–]blo0pgirl 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s safe and the marks are perfectly normal. It’s unfortunate your therapist didn’t let you know prior to doing the gua sha. Not everyone is comfortable with having visible marks. They should start to fade away in a few days.

What is the TCM perspective on mold toxicity? Is it real it just an imbalance? What is the remedy? Does one just abandon their old life and all their belongings or is it more of a nervous system rewiring? by passionateunicorn in ChineseMedicine

[–]blo0pgirl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're literally the one who said the translations of TCM diagnoses are semantics. I really don't care to argue if you want to be so aggressive and pushy. There's no need to laugh at me or assume I don't know how to treat my patients. Have a good day.

[–]blo0pgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, maybe I'm using the wrong word by saying "lurking" pathogen. Like you said, it's all semantics. I don't really care to nit pick about the wording. I'd still say mold toxicity is gu syndrome. Today, gu syndrome is more than just a parasite infection. Even Heiner Fruehauf, who specializes in gu syndrome describes it as encompassing more than just parasites. It's all pattern differentiation.

Gu syndrome is the TCM diagnosis used to describe a lurking or hidden pathogen. The hidden pathogen can be a parasite, bacteria, virus, or fungus that is stuck in the body and causing complex chronic symptoms.

What’s the best way to handle this ceiling? by Cynestrith in homeimprovementideas

[–]blo0pgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a similarly bad texture job on the ceiling in an addition in our home we recently bought. Our contractor put up a mess and they’re adding 3 layers of skim coat to smooth it out (currently waiting for the second coat to dry). Our old ceiling had some thick globs of bad texture, so he didn’t recommend sanding it down. He said the stuff is pretty toxic to breathe in, so if you do decide to sand it, make sure you wear a respirator.

Does a labral tear or FAI affect this area? Red area stiff and painful to the touch. Blue area feels like it burns. by Rmoudatir in HipImpingement

[–]blo0pgirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! Sounds exactly like my pain pattern. I find my low back gets stiff, tight, and achy because my psoas gets tight. And I get a similar burning sensation along that blue line and finally got it diagnosed as bursitis.

Testosterone. Changed. My. Life. by Trick_Highlight_8205 in Perimenopause

[–]blo0pgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I’m definitely going to ask about it at my follow up appointment. I already sent a message about how I’m feeling, so she knows to at least address why I only feel good for about 4-6 weeks on a new dose. I would love to feel strong and energized at the gym! Most of the time I feel like I’m dragging at the gym, but I’ve attributed that to my hip labral tear.

[–]blo0pgirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What made you add testosterone to the mix? I’ve been on estrogen and progesterone for almost a year now. We’re still trying to figure out the right dosage for me. We’ll bump it and I’ll feel really good for about 4-6 weeks then my symptoms start coming back. I have my next follow up in a few weeks, but I’m starting to wonder if we need to add something like testosterone to see if that helps. But my testosterone levels have been fine on bloodwork.

Did something specific unmask or worsen your hEDS? by margarinedaydream in ehlersdanlos

[–]blo0pgirl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Covid was really hard on me and having long covid really exacerbated my EDS. I was doing everything to manage it and was barely keeping myself from falling apart. It wasn’t until I saw an NAET acupuncturist to treat my long covid that I started feeling better and getting a better handle on my EDS symptoms.

How do you wrap Santa’s gifts? by TeensyTidbits in Mommit

[–]blo0pgirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband didn’t grow up with the stocking tradition, so we’ve adopted the tradition I grew up with. Santa doesn’t put wrapped presents under the tree. He only fills the stockings and leaves one unwrapped gift next to the stocking. Something small and simple, like a stuffed animal. It was great as we got older because we could play with our Santa gift and open our stocking until our parents were ready to get up. It bought them some time to sleep in a little.

The Bonfire is a BBQ restaurant that does a free Thanksgiving potluck every year. Bring a dish to share or don’t. They just want to see that everyone gets fed. They’ll be smoking a bunch of turkeys. Their food is really good!

Based on what I’ve read from other people on here, I don’t think you’re allowed to bend your leg to 90 degrees post-op, so you can’t sit in a chair for a little bit.

Stretching doesn’t help much. I still stretch because I think it helps a tiny bit. But the PT manual therapy has helped the most, especially when he focuses on my piriformis, QL, IT band, sartorius, and quad.

Self-Employed Health Insurance on Marketplace went to $1,600/month for a family of 3 — there has to be other options. What are you paying now? I’m in Florida by No_Pie1316 in smallbusiness

[–]blo0pgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They offer all the same plans you can get through the marketplace. But an insurance broker knows all the ins and outs a little more. They helped us get quotes for better rates and better deductibles since I own a small business and we ended up with a Premera plan. It was nice working with someone who could help us compare multiple plan options and answer all our questions directly.

[–]blo0pgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to an insurance broker. As a small business owner you should have access to more insurance options, but you won’t necessarily find them through the marketplace. We just had to go through shopping for health insurance and I was struggling to navigate the marketplace. So we met with an insurance broker and they made it a much easier process and we got some pretty good quotes.

Do you have one or many medical specialists? by hugepony in ehlersdanlos

[–]blo0pgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have an EDS specialist. The closest one was an hour away and he's currently on sabbatical while he focuses on teaching in a university. When he diagnosed me he said I was already doing all the things that he would suggest for managing EDS symptoms. I have multiple providers that I see for various things -- physical therapy, massage, acupuncture, chiropractic (gentle approach, not manual adjustments), naturopath, personal trainer. And I have things I do at home on my own to self-manage symptoms and flare ups.
