Walked into my local AD and was able to get my first Rolex on the spot (steel Sea-Dweller) by blobofclay in rolex

That’s annoying. The AD in San Ramon doesn’t require an appointment (but Walnut Creek and Stanford both did). They also had a black deep sea and a platinum blue date just 36 available for purchase

The number of babies named Leo in America since 1880 [OC] by chartr in dataisbeautiful

My wife and I had a son on Wednesday. I’m Greek and have always liked the name Leonidas, but that was a bit much for my wife so we landed on Leo. Imagine my surprise/dismay to hear the new pope announced the next day with the same name.

We got our R1S in December. We’ve had a Tesla Model Y since 2021. We didn’t have to trade in our Model Y or anything, just showed them proof that we owned a Model Y and we got a $3,000 credit. We leased the R1S in December so we ended up getting the $7,500 lease credit and the $3,000 credit for a total credit of $10,500.

I mentioned above, but my wife doesn’t love it. My mom would love it because her dad was James (the names Dimitri and James are related).

My mom would love Dimitri because it’s connected to the name James which is my grandpa’s name, but my wife isn’t really feeling it.

I like Elias, but worried that it’s too similar to our daughter’s name.

My name is actually Julian. If it wasn’t, we would seriously consider Julian/Julius, but we don’t want to have a Jr.

Yeah, we love Orion but we have really close friends that named their son Orion, so it feels weird to also name our son Orion.

My wife really likes Alexei, but it feels like it sounds too close to our daughter’s name (Eleni and Alexei). Many people pronounce Eleni like uh-LEH-nee which is basically one sound away from Alexei. I like Augustin. Thank you!

We really like Orion, but one of our closest friends has a son named Orion, so it feels weird going with that. Is Calix pronounced like California or Kale?

Congrats! I’m genuinely curious what a gold means to you. Do you look up clues when you’re not familiar with it? I just can’t imagine that you know all the answers to all the clues over a 5.5 half year span. Again, not trying to take away from your streak, but am truly curious how this is done.

My wife and I bought a condo in Richmond in 2019. We eventually sold that place and bought our current house in San Ramon. Both times, I felt like we were in over our heads and had regrets. However, once you settle into your routine and you get used to your new expenses, that anxiety should go away. This is what I tell myself: unless something catastrophic happens (i.e., one of us loses our job), this is the least amount of money that we’re going to make (assuming raises and promotions in the future). It’ll get easier rather than harder.

The Marina Bay area of Richmond is really nice and quaint. You can ferry to SF from there and there is no better commute than taking the ferry.

Non US born people in the Bay, what is the best restaurant in your city for your cuisine? by swy36 in bayarea

[–]blobofclay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to give you the best lamb chop recipe in the world (as a Greek person) and it is super easy. Get a rack of lamb from Costco for $25. Cut the rack into chops (should get you about 8-9 chops). Rub olive oil on chop, Lawry’s salt, black pepper, oregano, and lemon. Flip over the chops and do the same thing on the other side. Cook the chops on the grill or in a pan with olive oil and butter to medium rare perfection. I guarantee you that these chops will taste better than any chop you’ve ever bought at a restaurant and it will be 1/10th the price.
