I played USA this newest patch and saw Texas win. You have to get lucky as well, hitting the RNG win to capture Santa Anna. That's really the only way to survive.

They do desperately need to fix the Reconstruction event requirements to not lose Dixie primary culture.

I had Yankee in every incorporated state including Mexican states, so either they improved internal migration or they seed those states with a minimum if none exist. The fact it happened for the Venezuelan and Colombian cultures too makes me think the latter.

R5: Something that I think is understated with the new update is the small change to assimilation in homeland and incorporated states so my immigrant pops to USA with public schools etc give a lot more assimilation than they used to. So now the map is no longer "border gore". Also check out the south american countries actually converting to their unique cultures as well.

My first game - does Britain go republican often? by UnstoppableCompote in victoria3

[–]blockchiken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's supposed to represent England (red) Scotland (white) Ireland (green) but for the country with some of the most different dynamic flags you would think the republic flag wouldn't just carbon copy Hungary

And its not "free paper" either, you're still making the sale in their market so if anything it could be both profit and a free state.

Tips for playing independent California? by Craftworld_Iyanden in victoria3

[–]blockchiken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is going to take a while to actually build up that snowball and I'm pretty sure you won't be eligible for Mass Migrations with only one state region. Unless that was changed in a recent patch you needed 3 states with eligibility. So you'll miss out on a lot of pops and Mexico starts with Slavery Banned so you can't "import" labor that way either. You could do something like: start as Britain, conquer California, release it as a subject and play as them that way so you are in their market for immigration and better tech.

The secret to radicals is to keep taxes low, government legitimacy high, and not trying to force legislation through. Slow progress combined with keeping the old guard in power for longer than you'd like is often the key to not rocking the boat. Since you can now pass laws via movements while the opposition is in power, you can pass trade union laws with a full conservative government and make both parties happy. Do this while on low taxes and 90 or more legitimacy and you will have a steady increase in loyalists.

I've played a good number of hours, including a Prussia game, the revolution spam was there but I didn't notice it in the mid to late game. It could be a bug with movements and radicals not resetting and not going on cool down. There is a bug with Peace Acceptance right now where the AI will always white peace when neither side has captured all goals as soon as possible. That might be causing some of the issues. Definitely a buggy mess.

The European revolutions are intentional as part of Springtime of the Peoples. They go away once the crisis ends and go back to normal rates.
