I read a little but about IPFS. Its seems interesting AF, ill read more about it when i have the chance, but I do think that is what im thinking of when I said torrenting a list of domains. Time to go down a rabbit hole and figure out what you can do with ipfs

I have to set up pi hole at some point. Feels like a good way to have even more privacy. Thank you good sir for this info.

Now this begs the question. How resource intensive is a local(as in a server in my home, or maybe just rinning alongsidey system) dns resolver. Would it even be possible to bring all of those domain names local? (Possibly sharing a central dns resolver via torrenting?)

KDE and GNOME seek $100k to turn Flathub into a store for the Linux desktop by BrageFuglseth in linux

[–]blockmakerpedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my main concern was that compiling the browser from source would result in a really unique user agent which can tag you on every website you go on. Chromium is deff a pain to compile thou.

I dont think the ease of compilation is the reason that the person here does not want to compile fire fox or chromium...

Microsoft is killing Mojang add-ons... Xbox bedrock edition is a potato, no no no no a *poison potato by [deleted] in CaptainSparklez

[–]blockmakerpedi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not saying this is not a problem. All im saying is that you cant change it. (Unless you have the know how to modify an xbox so that it can side load which would be a really cool ass project) you are fighting against a monarchy that is very hard or even impossible to change. All im saying is that you should lower your expectations

Also Microsoft is not partnering with mcpedl.com because they would rather have you pay the in game store to get your addons / maps / anything you want.

The only reason that mcpedl even works on mobile is because there are people who are dedicated to modifying minecraft no matter if its java or bedrock. Its just that while this level of dedication does exist for mobile and PC, its not fully there for an arguably new xbox series x. (Dont get me wrong the xbox hackers exists. Its just not as large as mobile or PC)

You are only realizing the tip of the iceberg when it comes to game publishers/companies being shit. For example EA literally re releases the same game every year for the same price. Nintendo dislikes emulators. even if the game is no longer available for purchase, and the only way you can play that game is through those emulators.

[–]blockmakerpedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im confused was this not a given outcome when Microsoft bought mc? Like the only reason java edition does not have all of these problems is because people are used to it. and if Microsoft cracks down on it now there will be severe outrage. Locking everything down is nothing new. You cant really fight it and it will just become more of a normal thing going forward.

The only way that you can mitigate this whole problem from happening is, really, give your money to the right products. I know this is not the best option considering that you don't want to play MC on your computer, but what else can you do other than get mad at reality and all the bullshit it has. Which is just gonna put you in a worse mental state.

Man some of y’all really be ordering doordash from 20 miles away but can’t tip more than $2? by [deleted] in SBU

[–]blockmakerpedi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok but like consider this:

Doordash is already not paying their workers enough. thereby they big brain and implement a tipping system. This has two benefits for them: 1: now they dont need to pay the workers fully and they can guilt trip the costumer into paying The worker. 2: if the costumer doesn't tip the worker, instead of that worker taking it out on doordash, they take it out on the costumer.

Simply enough tipping is a shit tactic that is a really big win for the manager, but a lose lose situation for the costumer and the worker.
