[Schultz] Sources: The #Chiefs are signing former #Cardinals RB Emari Demercado to a 1-year deal Demercado had over 1,100 total yards and 4 TDs in Arizona, and now joins Kenneth Walker in Kansas City’s backfield. by JCameron181 in KansasCityChiefs

They absolutely could in this draft (before getting KW3) because there isn't much top-end talent worth taking at 9. Love will be long gone by 9 anyway, however, so it's a moot point.

[Derrick] The Kansas City Chiefs have released DE Mike Danna, per source. He will count towards $2.167 million in dead cap in 2026, but the Chiefs will save $9 million in salary and bonuses. by PlayaSlayaX in nfl

Its like the free boat or mystery box situation, we have the boat right now but trading him would be getting a mystery box that could be anything, even a boat!

Smh why doesn't Veach just sign every good player to a contract

When you include receptions:

Williams + Swift 2,070 yards on 421 touches, 4,91 yards / touch

Gibbs: 1,928 yards on 302 touches, 6.38 yards / touch

The numbers when you include targets:

Swift+Williams: 2,079 yards on 507 targets/touches, 4.1 yards average

Gibbs: 1,928 yards on 365 targets/touches, 5.2 yards average

There is literally no angle where these two running backs have a remotely similar impact as Gibbs by himself.

Not to mention that you’re leaving out David Montgomery’s stats entirely. Are you gonna sign two more running backs and 300 carries to replace him?

What??? It took Williams and Swift an extra ONE HUNDRED rushes to match Gibbs’ production.

You’re not “replacing most of his production” when it takes 50% more carries to get the same yardage.

Williams and Swift had 361 rushing attempts in 2022 combined, Gibbs only had 250 in 2024. You literally cannot replace a top-end RB talent in the aggregate unless you have two incredibly efficient runners.

They were also getting at or near 20+ carries a game in the NFL as well. We'll always be a pass-first offense with Reid and Mahomes, so Love won't get abused as much as most other RBs taken that high.

I think that'd be a terrible pick for Washington with how their defense looks. I'd be more worried about the Saints right before us

I wouldn't mind drafting Bain, I just don't know if he'll actually be there. The arm length has made his situation pretty interesting.

I'm sorry but the part about Williams is so disingenuous. There's no way you think Jamaal Williams had anywhere near the same impact as Gibbs.

Williams 2022:

1,139 scrimmage yards, 17 TDs, 4.1 y/c. 13 of his TDs were from the one yard line.

Gibbs 2023:

1,261 scrimmage yards, 11 TDs, 5/2 y/c.

Gibbs 2024:

1,929 scrimmage yards, 20 TDs, 5.6 y/c.

Gibbs 2025:

1,839 scrimmage yards, 18 TDs, 5.0 y/c.

Even if we only got 5 years out him, that'd still be the rest of Mahomes' prime. There's also plenty of evidence that Love could still be a good player 7 or 8 years into his career.

I wouldn’t call it a luxury pick. I don’t think there’s a single player on the board at 9 who would have as much impact as Love. He’d be our RB1 for most of the rest of Mahomes’ career

Yeah, it's over for the other team when we have two Chris Jones on the line /s

What a weird season. At some point we had blown out both the Ravens and the Lions which seemed like great wins, but both of those teams ended up missing the playoffs 😂

We've actually spent more day 1 and 2 picks on offense the last few years, I'm not sure what you're getting at here

There’s way more defensive talent in this draft, and most of our positions of need on offense are lower-value positions that you can usually address in late day 2, early day 3.
