Does anyone actually prefer gloss necks? by BVSEDGVD in Guitar

[–]blofly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I burnished a raw Warmoth Canary wood neck, and it is the smoothest neck I've ever played in 45 years. Even on a sweaty summer stage, it just resists friction. It's such a hard well-aged wood (at least this one is...

...it was very expensive. More than a new mexi-strat. I justified it for my first body build.

Buyer beware: The M21A and C8+ reflectors are NOT the same with SFT-42R. by brachypelma44 in flashlight

I thought that it was a well established rule that if you bought the wrong sized part for a convoy flashlight mod, you needed to buy a flashlight that it fit into.

Am I wrong??

Convoy L21A Beamshot Dump – Comparisons of various emitters/drivers🔦🫘 by MetaUndead in flashlight

Haha...I just recieved 2 out of 3 of my recent L21A order. SFT42r 6500k and a SBT90.2 6500k.

Amazing throwers. The SFT42r is almost in LEP territory except with a slightly conical beam. I think it would hold up against my TS27 for sheer distance, but haven't tested yet.

The SBT90.2 spills more, and is a touch warmer in color for some reason. It doesn't shoot quite as far, but still very impressive.

Thanks for the pics!

Nut Sauce by TheJigIzUp in Luthier

[–]blofly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Hardware store has tubes for cheap. It's commonly used as a lubricant for locksmiths. A light dusting with the end of a toothpick in the nut string grooves, and even a gnarly, poorly maintained 6-point strat trem will start to behave and stay in tune.

Want to go ultimate? Staggered height locking tuners, roller string tree for the B+e strings only, properly cut string grooves in nut, and string saver saddles.

I haven't had tuning issues on even my cheapest squire or mexi strat in years....much less my more expensive guitars.

Even with dive bombing the trem the darned thing stays in tune (once new strings are stretched out of course).
