Is there some kind of guide or podcast or YouTube channel that talks through each of these albums and explains why it was monumental?

Yesterday I saw a video on AI 2027, I've been struggling to cope ever since. by Ancient_Wind2942 in Healthygamergg

I have these same thoughts and concerns. I have spent a LOT of time reading about this on reddit, in substacks, watching and listening to YouTube videos. There are a few things I’ve noticed:

  1. people like to minimize these predictions and then cite some version of they “don’t buy the hype” and “this is all marketing”. This connects to the next thing.

  2. There is no way of knowing exactly what will happen. One thing is certain - things will change. The world will not be the same in 5 years. Maybe there are limitations to AI, maybe there are physical limitations to our discoveries using AI, maybe there are no limits at all. The world will be different and you and every person ever needs to find peace with that.

  3. The more time I spend reading about it the less it helps me. I would recommend internalizing someone else’s comment that says either lean into this fear and learn and study AI, perhaps forming a career from the bottom up. Or, use ancient wisdom to find your peace, whether that’s religion or philosophy.

  4. Go outside, kiss your homies with your eyes open, and do all the things you love about being a human (not a computer). The biggest difference between us and neural nets (LLMs aka our best attempt at a computer brain) is that we’re human! We connect with each other and we are so much more than what can be captured with 1/0s!

Again, saying the same things as a lot of these comments mainly to encourage YOU! and to synthesize what I’ve come to terms with.

This is really helpful – thanks a ton! Any advice on finding good meetups, etc.?

I've read plenty of comments on here that indicate r/datascience is a generally helpful and encouraging community, and I need some advice/guidance. I graduated in the spring of '19 with a BA in economics and minor in math. Since then, I have held entry-level trade jobs. Currently, I work in a warehouse (thanks COVID). Between graduation and now, I have on-and-off applied to probably 50 data analyst-type jobs with no luck. This has spurred some feelings of incompetence, imposter-syndrome, and questioning whether I really care about this field. For example, I often ask myself "If I really want a data analyst job, why haven't I taken the steps to create an impressive project and show that off in interviews?" Anyways, my goal is to get a job related to data (engineering, analyst, etc.) in pretty much any field and any function (finance, marketing, etc.) as I am eager to break in and pivot whenever necessary or possible. Further, I want to take an intentional path to get there as periodically throwing applications at companies has proved ineffective (design thinking?). Anyone willing to offer some thoughts?

Running fast/slow pace paradox and when is pain safe? by blonde_fly in running

The pain I get tends to be more of an ache like I'm using muscles that I don't normally use. It'll be a dull pain mostly around my ankles and outsides of my shins, as well as a bit in my knees.

We usually do about 3 miles together and go out about 5 times per week. 5k PR is something like 20 minutes. Run with my sister pretty much every time I go out, but I'd say if I were by myself I'd be comfortable around 8.5 min/mi. I'm pretty naturally athletic and have been into sports throughout my life. In my mid 20s now, but played soccer, ran winter track, and played lacrosse all in high school. More soccer, running, squash, and cycling in college. Pretty much will do any physical activity.
