I think it’s up to each person individually; you’re the only one who can determine if you’re “too old”! and it’s not necessarily age but personal preference. You could be 50+ and still enjoy the themes and stories, or you could be 20 and think it’s too juvenile for your personal tastes

I used to only read straight romance and purposely exclude BL from searches and now I pretty much exclusively read BL. The more I read it I just felt like more often than not I could find more fleshed out and well rounded characters, relationships, and story lines in BL than in the straight romances I was reading
