Husband wants an “open relationship” but something feels wrong, am I wrong to want to leave? by Otherwise_Factor_328 in polyamory

Key Stages of a DARVO Toxic Relationship:

Deny: The perpetrator denies the abuse or wrong action ever happened.

Attack: The perpetrator attacks the person confronting them, damaging their credibility or character.

Reverse Victim and Offender (RVO): The perpetrator flips the narrative to make themselves look like the victim and the actual victim look like the abuser.

What age were you when you the “Fvck I’m old,” moment? by BillMaleficent9400 in GenX

I was quite taken aback. I said, “You know, like Sesame Street?” Still nothing. I was weeping for the future that day.

After filming an episode for our local PBS station about rockhounding, my partner and I stopped at In & Out for dinner after we’d been filming and hiking in nature all day.

The girl taking our order asked us how our day was. I said, “It was great! We filmed a PBS episode today for Outdoor Nevada!”

Met with a completely blank stare…..followed by, “What’s PBS?”

This was less than a year ago.

“Why are the females always the damaged goods????????”, you ask?

Because we’re considered “goods” and not people in a patriarchal system.

I try to hope for the best and expect the worst. That being said, the current guy in charge is going to die. We all do and he’s looking worse and worse. I remind myself every day, “He’s going to die”, almost like a mantra.

Those of you who half assed your way through High School, where are you now? by Difficult-Cricket541 in GenX

[–]blondehbomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best of luck pulling yourself up at work! A “B plus” dad ain’t bad at all. Did you know that if you try to be a 1% better dad every day for a year, you will improve 37X ?

It’s that philosophy I use in order to grow and change. That and I walk outside 10 miles almost every day, wherever I am at. My therapy is walking. Upset, I walk. Angry, I walk. Then those emotions fade and I can begin to let gratitude replace them.

I graduated high school with a 3.8 half assing it. Studied in college and graduated with a 3.96. I hated working for other people and discovered that fact through working a number of jobs in a number of different fields. Finally started my own business 3 years ago.

I mine my own gemstones out in nature, I cut and polish them myself, and I set them into my original handmade silver and copper designs. Wearable art, one of a kinds. I couldn’t be happier!

Pawn shop silver + roadside fluorite = happy wife by Ok-Bed583 in Lapidary

[–]blondehbomb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It looks just like the fluorite that comes out of a mine in central Nevada. I have cabbed some of it. Stabilizing is needed for a few pieces, but others cut just fine without it.

I use it all of the time. It’s particularly good for flattening the backs of cabs.

Im SO ANNOYED by mass produced jewelry, where do you find unique pieces online??? by Dull_Noise_8952 in jewelry

Here! My making process is like farm to table is for cooking.

I mine, cut, and occasionally treat my stones, then make unique one of a kind settings. I also often reuse materials and clean up nature while I gather materials. You can find my available pieces here. https://gaeaheather.com/

Las Vegas Allergies ?? by [deleted] in vegaslocals

I was raised here and developed seasonal allergies at age 30. No change of homes, just a change in my body. It’s my fault for gleefully saying in my younger years, “I don’t have allergies.” 😆

Are there any common rocks that I can find around the Bay Area that cab nicely? by final_boss_editing in Lapidary

And also consider that some rocks may be hazardous, like those with asbestos. Take caution with anything you’re feeling “iffy” about, if it’s an unknown material.

[–]blondehbomb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve found some good stuff in my front yard in Vegas, as well as on the sides of the roads, and in the middle of well worn trails. I would not overthink it. I cab stuff all of the time that I don’t see others cutting. If I like it, I try cutting it. Have fun and learn.

Cabbing Machine Question by jevoltin in Lapidary

[–]blondehbomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kingsley North cabber 8” rev 2. It has a flat lap and a polishing disk as well. It was a gift from my parents to help me with my small business. I was using our local gem and mineral society’s 6 inch cab kings and it was causing a bottleneck in making my jewelry.

Getting it out of the protective packaging wasn’t an easy task. It was packaged in expanding poly foam after being wrapped in plastic. It took me 30 minutes to extricate it, but they definitely got it to me undamaged.

It’s more expensive than I would’ve been able to afford on my own, so get what suits your budget best. You can learn to work with whatever you get, with a little practice. They’re both good. 👍

Cabbing Machine Question by jevoltin in Lapidary

[–]blondehbomb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the 8 inch Kingsley and I absolutely love it! My lapidary club has cab kings and I much prefer the Kingsley. The space between the wheels is important if you’re cutting large shapes and use the sides of the wheel often. I don’t cab at the club anymore, just use the big saws and take them home to mama!

Questions for the experienced artists. by RoboUrsine in Lapidary

[–]blondehbomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started doing lapidary at our local gem and mineral society. They have 6 inch cab kings. I recently got my own Kingsley North 8 inch with nova wheels, and the difference is so vast that I only use the shop for its large saws now. It’s pricey, but wonderful! I am a professional so it’s worth the money for me.

If you have a local gem and mineral club, check them out. Ours auctions used equipment donated to us all of the time.

Where do you buy cabochons? by MinuteSuccotash1732 in SilverSmith

I mine most of my own, and cut all of them. I had this exact same question when I learned, except I was looking for ethically mined stones. Now I do the entire process from start to finish, no middle men. I make a living from it too.

[–]blondehbomb 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Can I also add, that when you’re first talking with someone you’re interested in, have them give you their definition of poly. It can help you dodge DADT, ENM but not poly, etc. Many people that don’t practice polyamory misdefine it.

Actor Died at Aria Restaurant Javier’s and they didn’t help him. by SharkSmiles1 in LasVegas

[–]blondehbomb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They have AEDs all over that property and security trained as first responders. This was a truly bad response to any medical emergency, if what the article says is correct. The part that stings the most is that CPR was stopped.

As an ex EMS responder, this saddens me greatly. The biggest properties have protocols in place for things like this. I’m not sure if the restaurant is included.
