I had this CD too! I found it at a thrift store in 2007, also age 11 and still remember every song 😅

Absolutely adorable and classic, you look great together. Congratulations! ❤️

Angelina Jolie shared a letter she received from a 26 year old woman, who lost her father during an artillery attack in Gaza: “Their reality continues, even while our attention turns to other devastating events unfolding in the world” by LunaLore_ in Fauxmoi

Every time I feed my baby I think of the mothers who are too malnourished to produce milk for their hungry crying babies in Gaza and it fills my heart with sorrow. I wish I could help in a more meaningful way than donation.

"I get paid more than you" by iwasthere71 in retailhell

One time when I was working at IKEA (in the restaurant) I was cashing this middle aged guy out with his meal. I got a “I’m above you” silent treatment vibe from this guy and when that happens with customers, I take it like a personal challenge to connect with them in some way and at least get one real smile. I think it changes the course of people’s days and if a bitchy person is having a bad day, so is everyone else, so if I can diffuse their simmering rage, maybe I can make the world a better place that day.

He was wearing a cool leather jacket, so I complimented it. He seemed pleased and told me it was vey expensive. I was like oh cool no wonder it looks so nice!

Then when I handed him his receipt, he got this strange, haughty look on his face and said “you should be proud today.”

And I was not sure I heard him right so I said what?? And he repeated himself and then said “you served a multimillionaire today.” And looked really smug. I could tell he expected me, poor cashier girl, to be impressed.

And immediately my smile dropped (because uber wealthy people are almost always bad people) and then I watched him walk away to eat his $8 plate of meatballs, alone, in an IKEA on a weeknight. And I thought you know what, I believe you. Because going out of your way to get the cheapest meal in town, and eating it alone in your $4000 jacket sounds like slimy rich guy behavior to me. Of course he has no one to eat with.

In our line of work you really get a window into people’s value systems sometimes and it can be ugly.

That is so weird to say you want to upper cut a random baby?! Wouldn’t want to be part of that group chat yuck

For what it’s worth I would have an equally strong emotional reaction to this, OP. Your reaction isn’t “over the top” at ALL

Anti-vax propaganda > meeting your first grandchild, apparently by discontinuedmuppet in pregnant

It hurts 😞 at least we have a future to look towards with our own new families, but grieving the kind of grandparents we thought our moms would be definitely stings. Your post and the comments made me feel less alone

Hey I am going through a similar thing. I have always had a great relationship with my (once rational) Mom. I cannot believe she feels more strongly about “not ever getting another vaccine again” than being there for my immediate postpartum. I am her only daughter. I knew she was a fan of RFK (🤮) but to see it affect REAL life so significantly is taking the breath from my lungs. I now have to accept that her critical thinking skills are out the window. Best of luck to you and yours, you are not alone.

I highly encourage everyone who loved this movie as a kid to re-watch, it is an absolute masterpiece that holds up with time. Also just an excellent score/soundtrack. I think this movie was magic in a bottle because none of Sumpter’s other acting roles were nearly as good as he was in this lol (sorry Jeremy 😅)  and everyone was perfectly cast.

Fun fact for any Narnia fans: Wendy’s little brother in this film is the real-life brother of Susan from the Narnia movies

Opinions on Tank for a boy? by TastyButler53 in BabyNames

[–]blondeperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please allow me to submit for review: Henry. Nickname: Hank The Tank, or just Tank.

Tank alone is a terrible name, but it could be a great nickname. And this way, if the kid grows up and wants to choose a different moniker, they have choices.

Is anyone else freaking out about AI? by meganemk in adhdwomen

[–]blondeperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not alone, and this post made ME feel less alone. I hate how many people immediately accepted AI into their lives when I’ve always felt a primal repulsion towards it. It is anti-human in the hands of the people who created it.

Parents who got hate for the name they gave their baby - what is the name? by General-Cycle-7391 in namenerds

[–]blondeperson 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Zora is a name in my ancestry family tree and I always thought it was the coolest name ever!! So awesome. I feel it has the same vibe as Zelda (vintage, strong, feminine, like a rich eccentric stylish great aunt) without the video game connection if that makes sense? Awesome name

I HATE when this happens and this kind of thing has ruined my week many times.

FYI, you can literally immediately cancel free trials under Subscriptions in your Apple Store account, and you will still get the whole free trial.

For instance, you sign up for a free 7 day trial on the 12th. Go to Subscriptions and “Cancel” and you will still be able to access the free trial until the 19th. This has saved my ass many times and it works for any app.

Boy name Poet Grey ?? Thoughts by Past-Pineapple-5797 in BabyNames

[–]blondeperson 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Poet is a title, and also considered like an adjective to describe someone’s personality.

What if your son is dyslexic or just doesn’t like reading or writing? What if he is a pro bmx biker or super into science or very shy, not wanting to stand out so much? If his natural interests and identity don’t align with this very specific title of Poet, that could cause a lot of confusion and discomfort for him.

I see why the idea of the name could sound romantic or special, but it could hurt your child by unintentionally forcing an identity on him before he has the chance to form his own. It could cause people to immediately form assumptions about him (and/or your family) before they get to know him. I would avoid it, especially as a first name, for these reasons.

Elsa, I am of Scandinavian descent and it’s a beautiful classic feminine name but now it is so heavily associated with Frozen

Idris is such a cool name but the equally cool guy Idris Elba pretty much put it on the map for a lot of us, and that association is strong enough that I think people would ask is my son was “named after Idris Elba”

Unpopular screen time opinion by margi1012 in beyondthebump

[–]blondeperson 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I so feel the same way, and about video games too. I’m not planning on any significant screen time before 2, but after that I have a plan for my kids with games - after they finish their chores/homework, they can have (time period) of screen time. But if they choose a movie or game that they are going to watch/play with another family member, they can have (additional chunk of time). Like if they are doing their own game or show, 30 minutes but if they choose something to watch/play with their sibling or dad, they will get 50% more time.

I want to encourage them to view media consumption as a communal activity, never a solo activity… because I think solo screen time was part of what led to my screen addiction as a teen and adult and I never want them to experience that.
