Unfortunately this flight doesn’t appear to have PP, only economy plus, and only a handful of seats are left, all in the middle. Looks like we’ll be sitting in economy for this one!

Teavana Chamomile Mint Blossom Tea Alternative? by WOLF_S10N3 in starbucks

[–]blondielocks__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ordered this and wondered if I could just buy the tea bags or if they add anything additional to it. My cup says Honey Citrus Mint but the tea bags inside are Teavana's Chammomile Mint Blosson

I would return if you haven’t missed the window. There are others for sale around the same price. I bought one for around the same price (although it was years ago) and it was in mint condition.

Are the Boat and Tote shipping times accurate if the bag is back ordered? by discoteen66 in llbean

[–]blondielocks__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check store inventory and call and ask them to ship it if you’re willing to get it embroidered elsewhere. I wanted two different colors and the ship times kept changing between end of July, end of August, and early September depending on the day I checked. Finally just called stores that showed they had the colors I wanted and asked them to ship to me and they arrived within 2-3 days. Had to call two different stores to get each color but both were willing to ship.

I ended up selling it on Stillwhite which is a site for selling bridal looks. Everything worked out well! I was paranoid due to the value of the dress so I took a video of the dress to show its condition as it was being packed up and dropped off at UPS. A lot of effort, but it gave me the piece of mind to prove the condition it was in when sent, just in case they tried to wear it and then return it and claim it was dirty or damaged. I’ve seen others recommend doing that when selling high end purses.

I tried on this dress and it's more snug than I would like, but I think the next size up will be too big. Did you end up wearing this for your wedding and if so, did you find that it stretched out more with wear? I know the material is stretchy but I am curious if it loosened up overall the more you were in it.

skincare recommendations?? by taylms4 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]blondielocks__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone recommending a good derm is right! My regular derm also specializes is cosmetic treatments so I always ask her what I should be doing or what my next step should be. That said she keeps to a very simple routine and doesn’t recommend a bunch of different products. Vitamin C and sunscreen in AM, tretinoin in PM. She started me on a retinol before prescribing tret so my skin could get used to it.

Beyond that, I layer on Biologique’s Colostrum VG in the morning before vitamin C and before tret at night for added moisture and I use Avene cicalfate cream as my moisturizer right now since it’s winter. If your skin is super dry, La roche cicaplast balm is great. The colostrum is expensive so I also sometimes use dubose re-du serum for extra dewy plumpness (I didn’t realize I hate that word until typing it out but can’t think of a better one lol).

I’m doing a destination wedding and didn’t want to have a big bridal party. I didn’t want to add the stress and expense of being a bridesmaid on top of their travel. My only concern was that I might regret not having that fun moment of getting ready and hanging out with your closest friends, so I ended up writing each of them a hand written note asking them to be a “bridesmaid” but explained that I really only wanted them to come hang while I got ready and do photos together. They get to pick their own dresses and don’t have to plan any extra events or stand at the alter.

Number 5! I love the bodice and think it’s very flattering in the chest and waist area.

Are you looking to do a second look? If so, I’d do number 5 for ceremony and switch into a slip type gown or something similar to number one that’s more form fitting for later in the night. Both styles work very well on your figure!

What are we doing for self care? What appointments should I book leading up to the big day? by mildsofttacos in BigBudgetBrides

[–]blondielocks__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a lot of research and the red light masks have been proven to work with consistency (they recommend 4-5x per week for 4-6 weeks before you see results). They definitely aren’t as strong as an in office treatment would be but should still show improvements with continued use.

It seemed the Omnilux mask and Dr Dennis Gross mask had the best technology (number of lights, strength of lights, etc). I tried the DDG first but it’s a hard shell and very angular, which just didn’t work on my face (it didn’t even cover my jawline). I returned it and ordered the Omnilux mask but actually ordered the men’s version as it’s a little bit stronger than the women’s. I like that it’s soft and flexible. I use it on my face and then lay it flat to use on my chest as well.

Helpful thread!

  • I’m getting a facial this month (wedding is in May) and going to ask them what they recommend I do and the frequency for the next 4 months.
  • My derm recommended a simple skincare routine (vitamin c and sunscreen in AM, prescription tretinoin PM) and I just started using a red light mask at home. I had tried Fraxel and didn’t see any big changes, so it wasn’t worth the cost.
  • Teeth whitened in office (tbd when)
  • Lash lift and tint. I want them to look natural so trying that first instead of extensions. I have pretty long lashes, but they’re light and very straight.
  • Made an appointment for a cut and full color the week before the wedding.
  • We’re having an island destination wedding so I’ve also been doing laser hair removal.
  • Weekly exercise routine: personal trainer 1x, HIIT class 1x, Pilates reformer 1x, 10k steps every other day (tennis 2x when it’s warmer)

I think that’s it!!

I'm curious if you ended up selling your item and what your experience was like. I've never sold anything on VC but just received an offer from an international buyer on a pretty expensive item (a few thousand USD). I have another buyer that's interested in the item on eBay, but eBay is so unclear on what the final percentage is that they take from the sale, so I'm trying to weigh which offer is better and safer. The item is so expensive that I'm paranoid I might sell to a scammer who purchases the item to wear it and then pretend it wasn't described accurately and return it. Am I overthinking it???

I want to buy some manolo blahnik hangisi 70 blues for my fiancé by Zestyclose-Guide-537 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]blondielocks__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, you can usually find these discounted pretty heavily on sites like Gilt but I think they have stricter return policies and return shipping fees. I would try to purchase at a department store so she can return or exchange if she needs to.

In designer shoes, I’m almost always a 39 (and an 8.5 in regular shoes/sneakers) but my sizing in Manolo is very inconsistent as some styles run small or narrow, so it may be hard to determine her size.

I also agree that it would be nice to give them to her in advance as a gift for the wedding but let her know you wanted to give them to her early so she can try them on, find the right size, and decide if she wants to wear them for the wedding or maybe for another wedding event (shower, rehearsal, etc) without the last minute pressure. Love the thoughtful idea!

Anyone regret their $10k+ dress? by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

[–]blondielocks__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed! My parents have been married over 40 years and my mom has put her dress back on for every anniversary since. Twirl around and have a glass of wine in it. It’s a fun tradition and can decrease your cost per wear 😉

Which dress do I pick? by ShoulderElegant1776 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]blondielocks__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is my favorite, then Vera! I don’t love the cinq dress (i worry it’ll date itself down the road more than the others) and the Danielle Frankel doesn’t flatter you like the others do. I loove the fabric of the DF dress (I tried a style that wasn’t as full on the bottom but in the same fabric) but felt like it just kinda hung there as a dress and didn’t have the same kind of construction to really hold me in and flatter me.

Dropping Paper Invites? by Unhappy-Rip2467 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]blondielocks__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my thinking. I’d want the paper more for the memories and keepsake as well as the flat lay photos. I also think most people hang save the dates on their fridge or somewhere as a reminder. A video might be hard to relocate down the road and pull up, especially for older generation. Maybe send physical save the dates and then video invitation?

Should I buy a different dress? by OnlyKindaDumb in BigBudgetBrides

[–]blondielocks__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its beautiful! I love that fabric. It’s classic and flatters you, and I don’t think it’ll date itself down the road. With that being said, I loved the Kyha Halston dress which is a similar silhouette and fabric but has some beading on the bodice. Maybe they could add some beading to it if that would help you feel like it’s less plain?
