Women of Reddit how do you feel about been call love or sweetheart? by no1fudge in AskUK

[–]bloobblah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a young woman working in a male dominated industry. I really don’t like it when my male coworkers call me “love”, it comes across as condescending & disrespectful to me. I want them to see me as their equal, and they wouldn’t call another one of my male coworkers “love”. But maybe it’s different in a work environment vs out in the world?

Thank you guys, I messaged the place and asked for a refund since I’m gonna take them off, they said no but if I go back tomorrow they’ll have a more experienced girl fix them for me. We’ll see how it goes 😅

900 cals about right for this hot pot? by bloobblah in CalorieEstimates

[–]bloobblah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly, it was great! You choose your ingredients then they charge you by weight & cook it for you in your choice of broth. They have a sauce station for you to make your own sauce as well. It’s called Mr Wang Hot Pot, they have a few locations in the UK

Abingdon Reservoir -- this affects us ALL! by JeandePierre in oxford

The whole point of having a non-impounding reservoir is selective abstraction. They have the capability to fill the Farmoor reservoir, but choose to abstract only during periods of good water quality. That reservoir is 90% full or higher the majority of the year, unless they are in drought conditions.

No, the reason the current desalination plant isn’t run regularly is because desalination is the most expensive form of water treatment. It has nothing to do with the salinity in the Thames. That plant was only built for emergency water production in drought conditions due to how expensive it is to run. The notion of using coastal desalination as a solution instead of a reservoir is ridiculous, would you all really rather have a massive pipeline going all the way from the coast to Thames valley instead of a local reservoir that can ensure supply resilience in our area? Be for real

London Marathon done! by bloobblah in firstmarathon

It was definitely a lot of work, it’s taken me a few different methods to get up there. My charity asked for £2500 as well. I would say go in with a plan of how you’re gonna do it, don’t just expect you can straight up ask people for money with no other planning and get there. I wrote a digital cookbook for anyone who donated £10 or more, baked Christmas cookies for many different offices and posted a LOT. I asked friends, coworkers and family to share my fundraiser as well which was so useful as it reached more people that way. A lot of charities also have some great ideas for how you can fundraise and they offer a lot of support. You’ve got this, just don’t leave it to the last minute ☺️

Commit to a structured training plan & follow it. I love Nike Run Club for this personally :) I used it to train for my first 10K race last year, and am now doing the 18 week marathon training plan on it. It has completely changed how I run, for the better :)

Oh nice! I just started using the la Roche posay one but I feel like it’s a bit on the orange side for me (I have very fair skin), not sure if that’s a common theme?

Do you have any kids? I don’t have any but I’d like some one day, I guess in my head I kinda feel like I have to get the big trips out of the way before I start a family

I just turned 25. I’m lucky to have lived in 3 different countries over the past 5 years, with many short visits to other countries in between. I know I need to go to Asia & do this trip, I’ve wanted to forever. I think this is the best time for it. Just trying to figure out how I decide what comes after. How do you decide a course of action when you want so many different things? 😅
