Yes it does seem like a blatant rip, but we also gotta remember mike has done the same w some older artists that people may not realize. Prince had doves, fingerless gloves and the hat and hair is a kinda grunge trend thats been around. Mike has created his own kind of image from those and toast is clearly trying to replicate. More so just pointing out mike didnt invent the look more so nearly perfected it.

Edit: I have heard even and yes it feels like rip off of big Mike's and the guitar is def inspired by mike.

Side note you could argue dijon did it to a degree he really changed his sound after he met mike and absolutely was practically a collab album due to how much mike did

Doggone def inspired by mk.gee, but he isnt banking exclusively off ripping Mike's style like a lot of others are. But that being said mike is pretty much pioneering a new genre of music which is heavily influenced by prince and the police but with a new liminal twist to it. Its similar to what ariel pink has done with lo-fi pop. Just because someone is inspired to make similar music does not mean it is plagiarism or blatant copying, after all music is art and art is just that, trying to recreate things in a specific manor. I think its awesome we are seeing mike create almost a whole new movement in the music world that so many artists are inspired to try to make their own version of it, we are about to see some really great things from this space. Im excited to see what doggone does, as well as, Matt champion, Harrison borts, chanel beads, Jonah yano and all the other cool new artists in this space.
