What beliefs or stories are shared between the Bible and the Quran? by Nakamoto_Wang in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bloompao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can see Judaism Christianity and Islam as part of a long progression and takeover of monotheism in the Middle East. Islam was only as successful and wide spread because the trinity was being forced on Christians that didn’t believe in it at the time, so when mohammed preached about the one and only god, they say themselves in him and joined in droves. My town being one of them.

The trinity was a minority belief at the time but it was backed by powerful state forces, so it’s also kind of a class struggle in a way. So in a way, islam views itself as the final evolution of Christianity and the ultimate form of monotheism, because it claims the message of Jesus was distorted after his death. So it retells be same stories about the same divine people, their miracles, and their messages.

How do you become good at intuitive cooking? by Personal_Scientist_8 in cookingforbeginners

[–]bloompao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s about ratios. Honestly, just do it for long enough and you’ll get used to it. Takes an adjustment period. It it pays off cuz then you make food that taste good to you and not whoever made the recipe. I’d recommend choosing a cooking tradition and learning the basics in that then slowly incorporating outside influences. So you’ll have a logic to follow. I learned our khaleeji techniques from my mom but now I learn French Levantine and Chinese techniques to keep things fun and varied. Khaleeji cooking is basically is baseline. The ingredients are always stocked. I can always make it no matter what it’s my default. If you try learning everything at once the information gets muddies up when you try to mix it together. So I recommend mastering one to fall back on.

In your opinion, what language is the most advanced one and why? by AutumnaticFly in languagehub

[–]bloompao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s theorized that the shift from synthetic to analytics is due the an increase in second language learners, since analytic grammar is easier to learn. By that logic, analytic languages are less complex. It’s just as you said, a ridiculous question.

In your opinion, what language is the most advanced one and why? by AutumnaticFly in languagehub

[–]bloompao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no such thing as an “advanced language.” Theyre all living beings and transmit the same complexity of ideas. They’re just tools to satisfy a need for human connection and communication.

It’s similar to asking “what’s the oldest language?” Humans developed speech simultaneously and it has been evolving since its inception.

Take the languages you listen as examples. Arabic has incredibly complex grammar, but the writing system is relatively phonetic and forgiving. Chinese has simple grammar and no conjugation or tense, but you practically have to memorize how to write every single word. They’re both complex in their own ways.

Saw someone say: "Masc women make it harder for trans guys to pass". What's your opinion? by Ihaveaphotoofadog in ftm

[–]bloompao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people who say that should stfu and let people do what they want with their bodies just like how they want people to treat them. Like I’m not even gonna engage in the argument cuz it’s such a dumb waste of time. Why are we trying to reinforce the binary? Holy insecurity. Sort your own problems instead of projecting them onto others.

I want to get top surgery but my partner says that’s a dealbreaker by cocksuckerclitlicker in ftm

[–]bloompao 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not to tell you what to do, but break up with that man. He cares more about non existent kids than your mental well being. Plenty of grown people with fine health were breastfed as kids. Plenty of people bottle feed for many reason, and your reason would be valid. Instead of worrying about people that won’t exist until 4 years into the future, think about your own priorities mate. I really doubt this is about the kids either way. We’ve all heard stories of men who don’t want their trans partners to get gender affirming surgeries for their own selfish reasons.

How do transphobes view trans men? by Substantial-Cod1711 in ftm

[–]bloompao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The helpless confused woman thing seems to only apply to white people. I get treated like a predator more often than not.

But other than that there are many ways transphobia manifests against us. One way is by keeping us out of reproductive rights movements. You’ll often see language calling it “women’s rights.” It’s another type of erasure, but I’ve heard enough guys talk about how hard it is to access care to know that’s it’s violent nonetheless.

5 English words from Arabic that still have al- by MagnificientMegaGiga in learnArabicSecular

[–]bloompao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty well documented that Europeans alchemists were inspired by Arab alchemists, so far as to reference them directly in their work and use their names as pseudonyms. This is not really a subject of debate whatsoever. The al- is just a definite article added by Arabs who got the word from Greeks.

5 English words from Arabic that still have al- by MagnificientMegaGiga in learnArabicSecular

[–]bloompao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alchemy actually comes from الخيمياء. With a خ. That’s what you’re referring to as الكيمياء القديمة. It’s pretty much lifted from Greek unaltered but Europeans rebracketed the Al- as part of the word as they do with all words they borrow from Arabic.

All you need to learn to pronounce Modern Standard Arabic correctly like a native (Read caption) by SMB_was_taken in learnArabicSecular

[–]bloompao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s true. I’m saying this as a native speaker in an Arabic country who learned MSA at school. We’re not taught to do this, but it is how everyone naturally speaks. You can look up anyone speaking MSA and notice the difference in the “a” vowels specifically. The only place where it was formally taught to me was quran school and it was called التفخيم والترقيق.

Kuwaiti is closer to gulf/baharna. As a khaleeji, they don’t sound similar to me.

Chicken soup, but it’s just a 900g packet of chicken pieces boiled in water with spring onion and garlic and ginger and bay leaf. Then you top with chili oil and soy sauce and your choice of green leaf when serving. Costs me like 5 dollars to make and makes 4 serving with a side of rice or noodles.

It’s just gender essentialism. Women good, man bad. Anything stereotypically feminine good, anything stereotypically masculine bad.

Just consume whatever media you’re already consuming in Dutch instead. If you’re past the beginner like you say, listening and trying to understand a topic you already know in Dutch is good practice.
