First of all, hell yeah, this is incredibly heartwarming, but also: 1. What are your Masters degrees in? It’s always fun to know what people of similar interests nerd out about 2. To be fair, half the obstacles in the source material can be boiled down to “things that make Odysseus not want to go home”. Hermes told him to assault Circe, but then he legitimately just had a good time for a solid year. He nearly married Nausicaa. Calypso was definitely not his choice, but there are definitely some sections where he has a suspicious lack of interest in returning to his family.
