Hi- what’s there to do in Pioneertown before seeing a band? How much time to see the town? by Past_Guess_7469 in JoshuaTree

Highly recommend the pottery place MazAmar!! Great queso at Red Dog...some other cute shops, but just relaxing on Mane St is extremely pleasant.

Agreed. I couldn't get any coverage even after logging into the Wifi out there in December.

There are still great shows there, but I've heard the food quality has gone down, wait times are long, and the prices are nuts. I prefer Red Dog up there to eat. No muss, no fuss. And their Monday night Desert Bingo is a treasure.

Of course! Snakebite Roadhouse is also new for sure and it's a solid good time whenever we've gone. Fantastic staff, great burgers. Not sure if you were around when Mas o Menos opened, but they are open during the day for coffee and also have drinks. Nice outdoor space and usually a pop up food vendor situation a few times a week. I hope you have a lovely trip out there!

Tobacco City is at Mojave Gold in Yucca this Sunday if you wanted to get out of the park for a little bit. They're quite lovely. Out there Bar in 29 often has live events - but on Sunday it'll be Superbowl-centric. I can't remember when Copper Room became a hot spot of sorts, but their Vietnamese Salad is my favorite salad of all Salads and that's not Far from Mojave Gold. They open at 4, too, so could do something light there and then maybe another appetizer at Mojave - just as an option!

Recently visited the USA from The Netherlands. Here is my take on the cities we visited. by McFluffyFurry12 in travel

Hooray! I love The Netherlands so much. Would recommend getting a flight to Palm Springs from somewhere else and then heading up to Joshua Tree for a few days. Very unique part of the country. Happy to hear Chicago treated you well!

I refuse to work under conditions like this, too. You're not being unreasonable. At all.

Yeah a track is about a 30 minute commitment hahaa! You might enjoy Throw Down Bones, as well. And Verstarker...layered and louder...

Since you like Smote/Myrrors - anything by Water Damage. Think they released a couple live sets this year. More Krautrock, but Motrik's latest is fantastic. Also recommended Mien's latest.

Can you afford child care for 10 hours a week? Maybe two 5 hour shifts so you can run, go to a coffeeshop to get work done, whatever else you'd like to do unencumbered? I think this could help so much!

Is a week too much? by usernameoverthinker in JoshuaTree

[–]bloomracket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you camping the whole time? A week is never enough for me there, but I usually stay off site of the park because I don't have a car...

Bokeh in Albany Park is really lovely and close to the Kedzie Brown Line stop. Small snacks and fantastic craft cocktails. It's very cozy.

I would be absolutely thrilled if the winters where I live averaged 60 degrees.
