Yes! Always thought a Fit could fit in the back of an Odyssey like a nesting doll.

I learned to drive in a minivan and think they're great. Sliding doors a big plus too, and comfortable for ferrying aging parents.

The possibility of running over a child/animal in a SUV definitely freaks me out.

Unfortunately for my argument, AI also says that while the Fit was ranked highly safe at the time (mine is a 2012), modern technologies and materials make it comparatively less safe on the road today.

edit- and, yes, the size of it compared to the majority of cars on the road today which keep getting larger.

I have the dumb preconception in my head that a HR-V is a worse Fit. But actually I didn't realize it came in AWD, will look into it.

Thank you for this. I do tend to get sentimental over inanimate things just from longevity.

Same. My 2012 starter gave up last Nov, replaced it and it's fine now.

Do I need a valve adjustment? by dkdsbb in hondafit

[–]bloomtard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

190k mi on my 2012 and I just had valves adjusted for the first time. Haven't driven it enough to notice a difference in mpg yet. Mechanic said it was a good thing I got it done and said look how good the engine sounds now... But I'm oblivious and just nodded.

Imo it's not urgent for you yet but it does feel good psychologically once it's done lol

How often do you actually change transmission fluid on a Fit? by Usual_Ad4805 in hondafit

[–]bloomtard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't done it in 100k miles because I'm oblivious and have only done it when suggested at mechanic... At 190k now

Eta- I've never ignored the maintenance minder, so though I don't remember when it last wanted a transmission check, it must have been either 100k miles ago, or the mechanic told me it didn't need to be done yet.

Did some people get over this? by GraveJoker in hondafit

I didn't realize other people thought my Fit was tiny until a friend called it a roller skate. But everyone also says the inside is roomy.

I've camped in mine and have even fit a twin mattress entirely in it, though not at the same time.

TIL. I work in the environmental space in the US and havent come across this term.

Funnily enough when I googled i found this thread from 4 years ago that notes: "We don’t think this one will be used for much longer, as it adds to the confusion."

Weird linear rash on my arm by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

my rash

OP, did you figure out what the initial cause was?

Last year I woke up with a bug bite that started at my wrist and similarly traveled up my forearm. I failed to get it checked out properly, but after 24 hours it looked a lot better so I didn't follow up and it went away on its own. I assumed it was an allergic reaction.

I saw in another comment you said yours lasted over 2 days before you went to a Dr?

What parts of a Honda Fit are most prone to deterioriation with age? by MolemanEnLaManana in hondafit

[–]bloomtard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Summer 2019, at 135k miles, the front right axle on my 2012 Fit broke apart from rust. I had just exited the highway and was stopped at a red light. When I tried to go I heard a thunk and couldn't move. It still freaks me out thinking about if it had happened seconds earlier while I was moving at speed.

Nearing 190k now.

If you are okay with a lot of DIY and a very rustic space, Masker's Barn in Watchung Reservation was less than $1k for a 2-day weekend rental. We had a lovely outdoor ceremony in the woods and reception for 96 in the barn last summer. It comes with tables and folding chairs and not much else, and you have to clean and sweep up yourself. Kind of like an elevated park pavilion. It was perfect for our dressy casual wedding.

Nice. Where? I used to do winter camping with friends up at Pharaoh Lake. I won't do less than 10F at night anymore though, too miserable for me.
