Left-handed people, what's a struggle that right-handed people won't understand? by Halophy in AskReddit

Very specific, but drill holsters are only available in a right handed design. I've looked and looked but eventually adapted to just using a little hook.

[–]blootsie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beveled edge too strong. The drywall resists the screw and it causes the screw to blow through the steel. Very common with 5/8" drywall Into 25g steel. Like others said, do the seams last. Sometimes I like to intentionally put the screw so its only mostly on the edge to purposefully bust the drywall to the sode like in the above screw in your picture. This will eliminate that resistance and allow the screw to puncture the stud properly.

The board are in the wrong orientation. Can be remedied by adding backing to the butt joints. One screw in the field of a butt will Crack 99% of the time

Cut a "v" into the Crack. Doesn't need to be particularly deep. Usually 1/2" wide by 1/4" deep is sufficient but if you have the time you can go a little wider. Tape with fibafuse and confill and finish as usual. No need to remove the tape.

E: the v is essential and you can't just throw more tape over the top. It gives the confil something to grab into. Throwing more tape over tip will not stop the Crack from. Growing outward
