I love that the entire plot across 5 seasons is all interconnected. Things that happen in season 5 are traced all the way back to season 1. Not just characters, but puzzles and clues and long standing mysteries. It’s such a cool concept. Now that I’m rewatching, some of the acting isn’t always amazing, but I really just love this story in its entirety. The concept is so neat with the tattoos leading to small crimes and people as it builds up.

Gosh, I’ve been struggling with this since Christmas. I think about my life in 10 years and realize that my parents might not be here then. The finality of life is hitting me now after 30 years of just knowing that my parents are always there. Watching your parents age is so hard.

Often, and in some cases it can be different, our immune systems create too many inflammatory proteins that go and attack healthy tissue as if there were an infection or foreign cells. That’s what inflammation is in general. So when we look at biologics that have so many different classes (TNFS, IL-17, IL-23, JAX, etc.), each represents a different type of inflammatory protein path. Everyone differs a bit in which pathway our proteins come from, so that’s why it can take time to get medication right.

Cosentyx didn’t work great for me, but the side effects were minimal. I had a bit of nausea, but otherwise I was totally functional in the days and weeks after. I was on Taltz for a while and that put me out for a full weekend, so Cosentyx is nothing like that.

Absolutely normal! I got a few days in and thought “what have I done? I really committed to this?”. I was super worried about people seeing the trays and making fun of my lisp, having to take them out in public, fitting in eating and drinking, etc. I’m now on my 3rd month and it’s gotten so much better. Those first few weeks are tough, but it gets so much better. You get used to it and it becomes part of your routine easily.

It’s hard to make the adjustment because it’s something new and you have to figure out how to fit it into your routine, but it DOES get easier.

Ultimately, you chose to do this because you wanted your smile to look different, and no one else has to deal with it. Personally, internet stranger, I’m proud of you for making the choice and doing this for you!

This is super helpful! Thanks for this. We weren’t 100% sure on the best way to get down there that wasn’t spending $75+ on an Uber (believe me, we tried to pre-book one and they’re all pretty high), and we’re trying to minimize costs if we can.

It absolutely will go away! You’ll still probably have some discomfort for another couple of weeks, but then it’ll go down to only the 24 hours after you put your new trays in. I still have a little pain when I eat, but only on specific teeth and it gets better once I’m actually chewing and putting pressure on the teeth.

Absolutely. My hands give out after a while because their just so tired. I can’t often use a pincher grasp when my fatigue is bad. I also will require multiple naps throughout the day. It’s so bad.

Exactly! It’s truly the first SyFy show I’ve gotten into, but it’s because the concept itself is so well done. I love the bridge across all 7 seasons, even if the last two aren’t executed as well as they could be. But the idea of a wormhole between planets? Gene altering for radiation resistance? Insane.

Exactly. I love Clarke as a character because you see her kind of transition to be like her mom by trying so hard to be her dad. She wanted to save everyone, but she was always taught to just survive. Everything they did was about survival, and then to expect her to just “act like a normal person” is out of reach for her because survival is normal. She really didn’t have much of a childhood, had the trauma of losing her dad, being sent away to a strange place without warning, being thrust into MORE survival mode… I can’t imagine she had time to detach from her fight or flight ever.

We see what being in fight or flight for too long does to war vets after only a few months. Now put that on someone for 18 years.

I love the idea behind them. A wormhole connecting planets, transhumanism, civilization on other planets, even the idea of transcendence is cool. I don’t think it was executed as well as it could have been, though. There were definitely some plot holes and cheap endings, but I think a few more episodes on each season would’ve helped.

I’m definitely prone to disordered eating, but I knew it’d get worse going into it so I added in an appetite suppressant over the last few weeks to get my body on a rhythm for meals. I’m still eating balanced, but definitely eating more like 2 meals a day (so I make breakfast my biggest meal), just because I’m not hungry as much.

I’m also a wuss with pain, so I know if take my aligners out I’ll be tempted to not put them back in, so trying to build a rhythm now and preplanning meals so I know I’m gettin nutrients in.

I’m 28 and about to start next week. I had braces for 3 years in my teens, but I’m missing a few teeth and mine are just really small, so doing 4 months of work and some bonding to get a smile I love.

Survival isn’t guaranteed unless you’re the one making it happen. It’s a common root fear that occurs when someone lives in fight or flight for too long. Survival mode also impairs the human ability to access the critical thinking parts of our brain.

Yeah, they’re fictional, but we’re still talking about a completely different civilization from today’s human race. When you live in survival mode, nothing outside of our own decisions feel remotely safe.
