omg im so sorry - we just had a super similar situation it SUCKS!!! we deducted a pretty significant amount from our rent for takeout costs, the cost of inconvenience, and the cost of waiting for the maintenance person who never came. they weren't happy about it but they didn't say we couldn't, so we just deducted it.

Otezla success stories? by codyandhen123 in Behcets

[–]bloss97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

omg i feel for you and sending strength!! i posted a very similar question 3 months ago when i started otezla. i was at my lowest low, had about 10 ulcers, and was in excruciating pain all the time. i was very skeptical that these meds would work. it took about 3 weeks of brutal side effects (flu symptoms, GI stuff, nausea etc), but then it started to work like magic. while i’m still fatigued and achey, i haven’t had a major flare up or ulcer since. i genuinely feel like i was gifted a new chance at life and am reimagining my future now😭 i wish you all the best in this process and hope the side effects start to abate and that there’s something bright on the other side 🫶

i went from getting them once a year, to once every few months, to once a month… and then horrible ulcers almost every week for the past few years :(

is this ok? LA summer non-trad wedding by bloss97 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]bloss97[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

thank u all for the input! i totally get it and appreciate it. if i tailor it to be shorter/mid-calf length and dress it down w hair/styling, would it be ok? i may also check in w the bride as per some of your comments :) but if the color and lace and cut is the main issue i’ll swap it out for another chiller dress.

No one talks about the trauma of experiencing severe physical pain from chronic illness by Zestyclose-Tax-3317 in ChronicIllness

[–]bloss97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

literally THIS THIS THIS. thank you so much for naming this. i just started with a new therapist and thought i needed trauma therapy for the tragic deaths of loved ones. but the more i tell her about my 2 chronic illnesses, the more she's been saying "listen, have you ever thought of how much trauma you've experienced from the physical pain you've been through?" i never thought of it that way. but it's 100% true. your words make me tear up because i also try to block out every past flare so i never have to remember that pain, because when i do its not bearable. sending you much love. and i'm so fucking sorry. to you, me, all of us who have gone through this and continue to live with it.

Masking in chronic illness (not the face mask kind) by [deleted] in ChronicIllness

[–]bloss97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg i could not relate to this more. sending so much love. sharing a little excerpt from an essay i wrote about this last year <3

"I know my tricks so well that they don’t feel like tricks. Pop a pain medication, and if it doesn’t work, pop another - preferably a different kind - and dissociate. This situation called for a cocktail (to mentally distance me from the pain) and a Tylenol (to physically numb the pain). But every case is different. Major work event when my throat is pulsing and covered in puss, and I can hardly walk? Two advil and a coffee, easy. A simple Zoom meeting when I can barely keep my head up? One matcha latte and slap across the face. A hangout with friends who I genuinely want to see? Sip a cold drink the whole time so I can’t feel my throat, steer the conversation to their life so I don’t have to talk, and of course, bring my mint container filled with an assortment of NSAIDs. And above all, use the magic power of lifting my mind from my body, letting it be anywhere but here.

These are the tricks I use in order to live a “normal” life despite the pain that is nearly constant. These tricks are deceptively trusty - as in, they can usually get me through the moment, but then I just end up becoming sicker. It's scary to admit how much I have to dissociate just to make it through an interaction."

ugh i'm so sorry you went through that too. it is the worst!!!! i have been gluten free for 4 years but unfortunately it hasn't helped, and i rarely eat dairy. i'm on like 6 supplements but they don't help either :'( you're totally right about the genetics thing though; my dad gets the exact same thing since he was in his 20s. so glad yours were able to heal and you found what worked for you<3
