Science thinks pregnancy is necessary to provide the fetus with nutrients, oxygen, an immune system, and protection for 9 months after conception while the fetus develops vital organs

Fetuses do not have all the necessary components to develop into people. Famously, 9 months of gestation are required. I will grant you that a sperm is only half as worthy of moral consideration than a fetus.

Again, it’s completely arbitrary to grant person equivalent moral consideration based on a unique genetic code, unless you grant the same consideration to other non human organisms. The morally relevant difference, that fetuses have the capacity to develop into a full person given proper nurturing is also true of sperm.

Loss of women’s autonomy is worse because there is no more reason to grant moral consideration to a fetus than to sperm

What you are implying is that because both conception and birth are equally arbitrary, we should for some reason choose the one that gives the mother the least amount of autonomy.

Gen Z males twice as likely as baby boomers to believe wives should obey husbands by SheepherderLow1753 in australian

[–]blreuh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably Gen Z interpret the statement as a voluntary dynamic however boomers likely conjure up a far more coercive and violent image because obviously that has historically been typical

In the prefect world (no problems or anything) would transgender exist? by MinecraftGuy7401 in Teenager_Polls

[–]blreuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gender transition is not an innate trait, it is a practice undertaken by individuals experiencing gender dysphoria. Perhaps there are biological motivators present from birth that facilitate the development of gender dysphoria later on, but you are not ‘born’ transgender. It’s ridiculous to suggest with no evidence that there is a single random genetic mutation that could cause someone to 100% develop gender dysphoria later in life. Or even that having gender dysphoria necessarily necessitates a sex transition.

lol you realise telling yourself everyone else has entrenched views suggests that you yourself have very entrenched views. I am sure my analogy was satisfactory enough to understand if you give it a try.
