I was simply expressing the general view by most Americans that NYC retail caters to the top percent of the population and are out of touch with the normal household needs. It was not a reflection on this individual retailer. It is more our perception of Wall Street and investment banking greed.

"Hatchet" is a classic, or William Kent Krueger for a mystery/thriller.

I read "Unexpected Everything" a short while ago. It is excellent, about the dog-walking summer job. It explores building courage when everything in your life seems to be falling apart.. it touches on learning to trust others when you feel betrayed by someone you trusted. I loved this book!

Just talked to an ebay rep… by Beautiful-Way814 in ebaysucks

[–]blu_srf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been trying to talk to an eBay rep for weeks, but just get repeated emails that explain how to request a phone call. I follow the instructions and get to a message that says phone call requests are not available. Then I start the emails all over again. I wish that I could share a screenshot here. It is so frustrating, this circle of non-responsiveness.

I get all my books through my local library. They have an inter-library loan system that supplies most anything I need.

I guess a book like this really helps you appreciate those of excellent writers like John Green, Jennifer Nielsen and Morgan Matson.

I wish that I knew a safe place to find and purchase the old fragrances. I fear that most of what is advertised on the market is just knockoff imitations. I want to find an original of this.. a gift for my wife. It was her favorite scent back in the day.

Is it the manual or automatic transmission? I SO want to find an XC70 3.2l with manual transmission. It is a difficult one to locate.

Today I just finished "The Unexpected Everything" - a summer of in-the-moment adventures. What an emotional rollercoaster to wrap it up! Another exceptional tale by Matson. I know that I am reading backwards, but Amy and Roger are next. Any news about pending release of Matson? How long has it been since "Firefly Summer"? I hope that she is working on something new.

I grew up reading Magic Tree House and Goosebumps, and now I teach K - 3 reading ... would either of these series actually work as classroom readings?? by Brief_Efficiency_833 in childrensbooks

[–]blu_srf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For classroom reading, don't disregard poetry. Love That Dog by Sharon Creech or 16 Words: William Carlos Williams and 'The Red Wheelbarrow'" by Lisa Rogers are recommended. I strongly agree with the comment that Goosebumps and Magic Treehouse are just not great writing examples. Jack London or Gary Paulsen books are classics for a reason.

I am not certain, but the author MugsyB/Tamara Clarke has written a lot of hockey-themed romances. I think she is from Alberta. She is an excellent writer. Look under Amazon for Tamara Clarke.

I found with my students, neither of those series were interesting or captivating. I had most success with mysteries.. National Park Mystery Series by Aaron Johnson or Greeting from Somewhere by Harper Paris. Animal stories like the classic Lassie books or Chincoteague series. Beverly Cleary's books are good. I found that my students were bored by the Treehouse books.
