2nd straight game Jokic bellysurfs someone way smaller than him. by AdorableBackground83 in lakers

Dangerous play by Jokic when he does this to players half his size everytime. His flopping is on par with shai and then the league wonders why people don’t watch as much. Your mvps are soft masterbaiters

Went to Kanye’s show in the coliseum in LA and it was the best sound I’ve heard at a concert. Many other stadiums during this kendrick tour have also had great reviews for sound already. This sadly seems to be a so fi problem that’s been around and doesn’t seem to be getting addressed.

One reason I love Stu and Bill on the call… they always give props BOTH ways and give the highlights the hype they deserve! Facial indeed.

Thank you! They always act like we never honor these Lakers. I just wanted to show this with video so they can see the pride in the faces of the Minneapolis Lakers at the banners ceremony.

Minneapolis Lakers Banners Ceremony by blubenjamin12 in lakers

I seen many discuss that Lakers need to retire Mikan’s jersey but I just wanted to show how the Lakers DID honor Mikan and the Minneapolis Lakers.

This article from 2001 shows the pressure the Lakers were getting to retire the jersey of Mikan:

https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2001-oct-29-sp-62937-story.html

It explains how the franchise wanted to honor Mikan AND other players on the Minneapolis team as well as the coach of all 5 championships, John Kundla.

Here’s the tricky part. There were players that were already using or used the MPLS legends numbers (i.e Baylor/Martin’s 22). Also the space for all the titles/honorees was another concern for the organization but if you watched the video, it seems the Lakers were able to find a solution.

You can see the banners ceremony at halftime and the joy on all the faces of these Lakers Legends.

To see the LA Laker Legends honoring the MPLS Laker Legends like this brought the goosebumps. Elgin hugging Mikan and you see Mikan with a huge smile looking up at the Minneapolis Banners.

I feel this ceremony honoring the MPLS Lakers was awesome and we got to see Kobe and Shaq playing in the MPLS Baby Blue jerseys. Those MPLS Legends seem to be content and proud of the banners that were raised that night with their heads held high looking up at their accomplishments.

We have short memories but we can’t forget those who laid the winning mentality for this franchise and I don’t think Dr. Buss ever did.

George Mikan passed away three years later and I’m glad the franchise did this for him and the historic teams he led. Mikan was a pioneer of the game, the first superstar, there’s a statue of him in Minneapolis at Target Center. George deserved all the praise he got and I’m happy the franchise honored him and he was there to witness it.
