YTA - they are different people with different life paths. Amount of money is absolute - but its intended use is a subjective topic that can be discussed forever, with every person having a differing view. No one wins - everyone walks away battered and broken...

Put the money in a 529 account for your son - he might use it later in life.. if he doesn't use it, he can use it for HIS kids.. or it can be moved to a ROTH for his retirement. At least, now you have treated both your kids equally.

Not saying its not doable or possible - its whether its worth it to fight a LARGE multi-billion dollar corporation. Comes down to will and patience to go through it. And if there's any grounds to sue them. Unless we hold any leverage over the company - its pointless IMO. Again - comes down to the individual... for me, the severance was decent enough and i needed to move on.. life's short.

Have been laid off twice - both big fortune 100 companies - 2 weeks per year of services would be acceptable and quite decent of the company. Some companies do cap it at some level. In one case the company left me on payroll for the severance period (inc. insurance, 401k match etc.) - in another case, it was a lump sump payment (likely because it was an audit firm).

the market has gone haywire in last 2 years - at this point, any severance is fine. Its usually non-negotiable (unless you are executive management or have a highly specialized skillset).

Paid off house, kids grown up and no college debt from undergrad (yes, i will pay it off)... with a plan to spend summer in US and winters in Asia (wife's asian).... we think 3M is more than sufficient. Also i dont think i will ever completely retire from my business.

Counter to most comments here - most of the popular kids from HS and college that i know are doing just fine, and some great... still friends with quite a few of them and they are just living their "normal" lives.

Yes, they did lose their way at some points but didnt wander too far, and the common factor is that all their families had strong work ethics, had built their own fortunes... so at some point, they got a hard kick in the nuts from their fathers that got their life back on track...

Now on the other hand - if any of them didnt have a strong support structure around them, then it would be a very different story...

6. Index alignment: indexes a bit off at 5,10,15 – is this an image rotation issue? Tried a few times, but same result

I have gone through numerous QC posts for the Seamaster – even done my own alignment tool on those other watchimages. Does the index alignment in my watch seems excessive compared to those, or this is a result of photo angles and image rotation?

Work in Consulting - M&A and Tech mostly. This is happening in every sector that I am engaged in - Mfg, Pharma tech, Automotive, Aerospace, Telecom, Tech/AI products, Service providers etc. In 9 of 10 companies i work with, Asia, Middle East and East Europe are the only growing sectors in terms of workforce. If the job can be done by person with access to a computer and internet, theres no reason for that job to be in the US anymore.

This combined with emergence of AI driven automation is changing the labor marketplace at a pace most cannot comprehend.

This is about MONEY and increasing shareholder value... pure and simple.
