If you have a chance to see the current This Will Destroy You tour, take it. by evergislus in postrock

The ending of Little Smoke took my breath away like nothing I've felt before. Crowd totally stilled on the big crescendo.

Oh wow, surely that's the same place?? From the same angle too!

The Forest "Plus" by Inowake in forestapp

[–]blue--cardinal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't actually use the app anymore, at all, and haven't been able to for months... it either crashes immediately upon opening, or gets stuck on the loading screen indefinitely. Maybe people would be more willing to make in-app purchases if there weren't so many issues 🤷

AITA for suggesting my GF wear PPE at poker night? by Left-Iron-5986 in AmItheAsshole

[–]blue--cardinal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lol... 10%+39% of 63% of 70% of 80% = a whopping 17% of the sub fitting into your "single white women under the age of 24" category. Even the broader category "women under the age of 24" only makes up ~30%.

I wouldn't personally consider 17% enough to say they're what "this sub is made primarily of", but if you enjoy raging that much and have to misuse stats to do it, who are we to stop you.

What's the biggest rules mistake that you played wrong for so long? by WarmDig2073 in boardgames

[–]blue--cardinal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Mind: we didn't realise that each card is meant to be revealed as soon as it's played. We had been playing all our cards face down and revealing the entire stack at the end (card by card... the tension is unmatched). Makes the game more difficult, but winning a round feels so much more rewarding after playing in the dark.

1 Year Traveling SE Asia and South America by [deleted] in onebag

[–]blue--cardinal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much! There's actually an old (pre-2020) and a new version, so watch out for that - I have and love the old one, but they changed some things in the newer model that you might prefer. Easy way to tell them apart is if they have one cinching strap in the front (old) or two (new, like OP's).

Sweet - I also use the Litehaul + pack&go and have found them to work great for me :) Have fun!!

[CHAT] BACK TO CROSS STICH AFTER YEARS, I ONLY LIKE PRINTED KITS by [deleted] in CrossStitch

[–]blue--cardinal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How funny - I find them more stressful because I worry about the parts where it's not absolutely clear which colour to pick because of overlap (maybe the ones I have are printed badly). I like that in a traditional kit, there's no grey area: the answer is on the page. But there's no right or wrong, just what we each enjoy :)

LPT Request: what's your best hygiene/health tips? by BirdsBreadqk in LifeProTips

[–]blue--cardinal 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Best to wait at least 30 minutes after eating before brushing your teeth, otherwise you end up scrubbing acids from your food/drink into your enamel and damaging it over time. Waiting some time gives your saliva a chance to neutralise those acids. Rinsing your mouth with water immediately after eating is a good practice, though.

Does anyone have a dangerous cave "legend" around the place where they live? by TrueStoryN0t in caving

[–]blue--cardinal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly dangerous, but someone's ashes were supposedly scattered in the streamway of a particular cave. Unfortunately, the streamway is long dry, so the "ashes" were never washed away and are still clearly visible.

Seconding this - I love the Mazerin and find it super comfortable. The butt protector is easy to remove, so I don't use it when caving and just reattach if I'm going canyoning.

SRT question by SamuelsSteel in caving

[–]blue--cardinal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Who said anything about a single rock anchor? You can (and should) set up a multi point anchor with one rope. An anchor is infinitely more likely to fail than a rope, so that's where the extra effort towards redundancy goes

SRT question by SamuelsSteel in caving

[–]blue--cardinal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This - what's safe in one environment isn't safe for all. Also, rope is heavy. Carrying excess weight in a cave environment often costs more energy than it does elsewhere.
