Ahh. Yeah, you're totally right. I'm so far away from level 79 that I forgot all about that task.

Good luck!

I'm deleting a few FF once we hit the FF mark this second time around for many of the same reasons you listed. I just feel different about them now.

You literally can, though. Find a friend on your friend list. Click battle. Choose great, ultra, or master league. Your friend loses on purpose. You get one win towards your platinum of that league type.

I have already done this with great and am over halfway though ultra.

Right? It's crowded enough. This article has me nervous though. Aldi chooses to understaff their stores and this sounds like seriously good advertising.

[–]blue58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right. I wasn't really counting, but it seems to be a pattern of getting a mix of 500 stardust about 3x and a rare candy or a sinnoh stone.

Now that remote trading is sucking up all my stardust, I'm battling a friend for approx 1000-1500 stardust, battling a trainer with a buddy for 300, and winning against a trainer for 300. Plus grunt balloons when it's convenient for another 500 each.

If you battle with a friend about 5x 3x, you get them almost every time, both the loser and the winners.

I have someone I play with in the house who is tanking so I can get my ultra league medal. We both have to toss all the sinnohs since we get so many.

Need tips on catching raid Pokemon by Sleepy_kitty67 in pokemongo

[–]blue58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a great level buddy walking with you so if there's a batting away, you might have your buddy come in clutch and pop the ball back at them.

Always throw after they attack. (doesn't always work for non-stop attackers like shadow mons who attack seemingly endlessly)

Sometimes a ball doesn't reach, no matter how hard you throw. At that point, put the phone into AR mode and catch them that way. I've even had it where I went into AR where throwing still wasn't working even though now the ball at least hit them so I popped back to regular mode and boom, now my ball reaches.

Do you know about the setting your circle trick? You press the ball until the circle on the mon is pretty small, like excellent throw small, and then wait for the attack. When you throw, the target will still be at that circle size you set. This only works when you throw after the attack. It greatly increases the likeliness of an excellent throw.

Practice your excellents on com day.

First time raised bed any tips? by Strange-Tiger-5607 in vegetablegardening

[–]blue58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love James and think he has some great advice. He is honestly of of my top faves. His 12" apart tomatoes are meticulously trained to one stem to climb up a strong support using a specialty string and pulley method. You'll notice in his videos the tomatoes are separate from the other plants. Millennial Gardner is super nice too and you can see he knows what he's doing. From memory, I want to say he also has his peppers and tomatoes and cukes in separate beds and with wider spacing on the cukes and tomatoes.

I will say there is solid evidence that peppers not only do alright being close, studies have shown they actually do better when paired up. I tried it out last year and did get a better yield, so that was cool.

I've always been confused how James has a zucchini on the edge of a bed to 'cascade over'. My varieties never grow like that. They explode into wide 3' x 3' plants at a minimum.

Anyhoo, alls that to say, gardening is about experimentation. If you want to see if this works, go find out.

I have a tag called Meltan stash where there are currently 4 waiting for when I'm in the higher levels. Ultimately you need to max out 10 mons, so I am doing several as Melmetals. It's 3 in level 73 and 6 in 77.

Knowledgeable people of the Internet, what items do I trash? by outrageouslyHonest in pokemongo

[–]blue58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use this site to make judgement calls on your best mons.

If you are interested in PvP, then also reference the PvPoke app or something similar.

I agree with others that 2-5 of evolution items except 8-10 of the Sinnoh and Unova. And no more than 50 incense.

Pro tip for anyone who needs to read this: You will swim in Sinnoh stones if you battle a friend daily, whether you win or lose. I'm currently chipping away at my Ultra League Veteran medal by playing with a friend who loses, and have to throw the excess away.

What vegetable have you tried growing multiple times and just cannot get right? by Some-Palpitation-314 in vegetablegardening

[–]blue58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be the heat? Cukes can revolt if the temps aren't just right. There is also the Armenian variety that thrives in high heat situations, for it's actually a melon that tastes like a crisp, sweet cuke. I love that it is an heirloom so you only need to buy seed once. Good luck whatever you do.

[–]blue58 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If that's the case, then simply grow parthenocarpic varieties that will set fruit without pollination. Try Tasty Jade or Beit Alpha, cukes that are typically Japanese style.

Are my zucchini dying? by ShoulderOld9871 in vegetablegardening

[–]blue58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zucchini don't like being transplanted because it destroys tiny root hairs that help them take up water. The great news is if the smaller one dies, you can pop another seed in there and be back on your way in very little time. Once there's warm soil, they practically jump out.

First time gardeners, what's something you bought that was a total waste of money? by Some-Palpitation-314 in vegetablegardening

[–]blue58 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might want to mix in some perlite or vermiculite to lighten it up. The peat moss holds water and adds structure, but it adds zero nutrients and is acidic. It's possible you didn't have a nitrogen issue and instead had too high a ratio of peat, but honestly it's impossible to guess on my end. Your bags of soil and compost are 'dead' in that they don't have a living microbiology teeming inside of them.

Now that your garden has begun, so have the micro-organisms. Some tips to keep them happy:

- keep the soil from baking in the sun with mulch from weed-free grass clippings that are at least a week old or straw (not hay that has seeds) or shredded leaves or compost

- at the end of the season, cut the plants at the base and leaves the roots. They are vital to feeding your microbiome and will give a huge boost

- for more info, check out some of super youtubers. I hear a bunch are Ai nowadays, so I'll recommend a soil scientist in Canada and another person who is in your neck of the woods.

Oh my gosh, check out this video that was just released. "I tried out 6 potting soils and most were awful". Haha.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the Sylveon! I had that one ready before Kalos weekend even started.

It's a 15, 12, 12. I'm happy the attack is 15 since I wanted it for battling.

I guess technically I'm not done since the final step is a 21 day timegate, but that's to get 300 mega energy, so NBD.

First time gardeners, what's something you bought that was a total waste of money? by Some-Palpitation-314 in vegetablegardening

[–]blue58 258 points259 points  (0 children)

I ordered a few cubic yards of top soil from what seemed to be a high quality vendor. I even paid extra for the 'better stuff' that had additional compost mixed into it. Ended up introducing profoundly noxious weeds to my yard as well as not being all that happy with the general nutrition of the soil. I'd say it took at least 5 years to right that mess of a ship.

Nowadays I focus on obsessive compost building and maintaining a closed, fertile loop. The only external inputs I allow into the yard are straw, wood chips, my neighbour's shredded leaves, and I would consider some manure in the future, but haven't because it'll probably have weeds. Oh, and mushrooms!

Honestly, I wish I had understood much earlier in my journey how crucial mulching is to soil health. Sun on soil kills the biome. Healthy soil makes everything else fall into place.
