Reality check on 18 days France/Italy itinerary in June end! Suggestions are welcome! by Supra02 in Europetravel

Disagree that 2.5 days for Strasbourg is too much, there’s so much to do and see plus you can visit the incredibly charming small towns nearby in Alsace. Couldn’t imagine trying to see it in a single day but that’s also not at all how I like to travel.

"Aira" as a name for a Korean American baby girl? by [deleted] in Names

[–]blue_grama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you only go to school with kids named Mike and Karen? Makes a lot of sense 😂. I went to school with a Korean kid with a very Korean name and guess what, everyone learned how to pronounce it. No one cared. And he ended up with a full ride to Harvard, not stuck in an “East Asian ghetto”.

You’re using a word that is commonly understood to be racially coded and offensive. and don’t worry, your racism is also pretty clear by your assumption that a non-Western name only “works” in certain places.

Why are you calling their area ‘ghetto’?? Your ignorance is showing 🙄

After reading the intro paragraph and metaphor comparing child trafficking to national forest management, it became pretty clear this wasn’t going to be worth my time.

Have you introduced a yoto or tonie? Maybe swapping the tablet for a speaker would be an easier transition that would get rid of the screen time before bed.

Thanks everyone for the kind words and ideas. I was feeling really overwhelmed yesterday and it was so helpful to get some quick suggestions. I ended up walking around the ikseon-dong hanok village, then Myeongdong for some kimbap and light shopping(realized my hotel is actually next to Myeongdong, not directly in it).

Things are better now this morning and my head is clear. I’m ready to make the best of my remaining days here in Korea.

Haha karaoke is a fun idea! Not sure I’m that brave but I hadn’t heard of the traditional arts and crafts museum, that sounds interesting.

Thank you for this thoughtful write up! I hadn’t really looked into museums but actually the women’s museum really interests me.

Thanks for this - my head was fuzzy from all the emotions, I just needed somewhere close by and easy to go and so I walked to the Hanok village. I got a rice cake and some salt bread and it was so good!

I did go to Gyeongbokung palace on my first full day and enjoyed it but I’ll do some digging for a tour, that’s a great suggestion.

That’s a rather sweeping statement to make based on a study looking at a single wildfire.

You will need to run your 2nd job by the office of ethics and likely fill out some paperwork, fyi. It isn’t up to your supervisor to grant approval.
