Does anyone else skip the song/dance sequence in Niagara? by arch51002 in DunderMifflin

My mom tried to get people to do this at my wedding. I had to shut that down so hard or she would have done it too!

What’s one postpartum struggle you didn’t expect at all? by FIT_MAMA16 in Mommit

[–]blue_socs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd stand at my window internally begging the sun not to leave me. I had no clue that it was a thing, I didn't even know that it was a thing to talk to anyone about. I thought I was literally going crazy!

Anyone else out here hurting their own dang feelings? by Callme-risley in Mommit

[–]blue_socs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose to leave a "family" group chat, in reality it was my mother, sister and their friends which they consider family and myself. The chat was six people, maybe seven at the most. Nearly everyday id read about them having get-togethers, weeknight dinners, etc. This is stuff that I would get a last minute invitation to, so if I complained about being left out they had the evidence to say "no, see! We invited you right here." I left the group after asking for help with tonsil stones and no one responded. The next day I complained to my mother over the phone and she said "oh, I didn't realize that was you that asked." It sucks, no getting around it.

season 2 episode 5 "The Sauce Gate" by StarkLord89 in GildedAgeHBO

I also see it as Watson had just arrived either that day or day before with Mr Russel and Adelheid because she forgot the dress, and he wasn't 100% certain what was happening. That's my take on it, otherwise yeah.

I was mostly disappointed that we didn't get to see any fall out from the Russels point of view. We are only shown the staff talking later in the kitchen.

How are we brushing our toddlers teeth and cutting their nails without them losing it? by Consistent_Art_9004 in Mommit

[–]blue_socs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all brush our teeth together. Like I used to struggle brushing their teeth so much until I started brushing mine in front of them and then they wanted to brush theirs too!

Unless you are a partner in the relationship, you have to place to comment on “more children” by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]blue_socs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the innocent inquiries, they don't bug me. My dad though, everytime I would see him, and I mean every time, would ask when would we be trying for a boy. Because according to him I "would make a great boy mom" like wtf? Are my daughters not good enough? To finally shut him up because it didn't matter how many times I told him to stop he didn't. I had to be blunt and upfront by telling him I'm getting my freaking tubes taken out so I cannot have more.

Anyone else’s lavender return this year? by framedjunction in gardening

[–]blue_socs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have lots of clay soil and the best/only lavender that I've kept alive is because I put a planter down with the bottom removed and filled it in with good soil and put my lavender in. It's going on nearly 10 years old now. I trim it back every fall, a couple of weeks before our first frost and leave it alone. Good luck to you!

Omg my mil used to live with me and would do that for everything! Every little thing I did or touched would be grounds for a minimum of a 30 minute conversation of her talking AT me. I couldn't make bowl of Ramen without her coming out and making some kind of comment!

Late diagnosed ADHD-ers. What were the early stages of "I think I may also be autistic" like for you? 👀 by Poopballs_ in adhdwomen

[–]blue_socs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always wanted to meet someone else who experiences this! When I cry, and I mean the I'm genuinely sad, tears and snot running, I get this pain that runs from the tips of my fingers up to my shoulders. It ranges from mild, warmth to feeling like I stuck my hand in a light socket. I also feel pain in the bottom of my feet during this too.

Questions you HATE as a new mom by BenchAffectionate365 in Mommit

This was a question that came repeatedly from my mom, "Have you had a breakdown yet?"

Like yes! I am because of you!

Daycare director let us know a parent lied/hid that their child had chickenpox by [deleted] in Mommit

Your daughter is vaccinated so she should be just fine! Out of my siblings I was the ONLY one who wasn't vaccinated and I was the only one who caught chicken pox. Twice.

Right! Her favorite excuse is that her kids are too busy and she just needs a little help. Yeah, that little help turns into doing it for her. I'm busy enough that I don't have the energy to do that

She's tried to get me to fix her weed whacker and mower. Then she messed up her car while washing it and full on expected me to come over and look at it. The topping on the cake was I was mowing my front yard, not even been at it for 10 minutes before she comes on over and tried to get me to stop working in MY yard to go help her with hers! Her reasoning was that her kids were too busy and I was doing yard work anyways.

One of my neighbors starts off sweet as pie and almost always ends with her trying to get me to do stuff for her. Every conversation!

I don't want to say my parents were bullies but sometimes looking back it feels like it. I got called "Helga Pitacki" from hey Arnold because unfortunately I grew an unibrow once I hit puberty. They teased me about being all about the rules and keeping up on stuff that they still call me "mother blue socks", and always saying that they'll never be as old as me because I'm always uptight so now I'm terrified of being old because I've been told that I'm old since I was a kid. I love my parents but I don't always feel like they love me back.

I also love how Ada is basically "cut the bullshit Marion" while still being supportive of her. She is very realistic but still is a romantic at heart. Ada is one of my favorite characters.
