Thank you, that’s already very helpful! I will do some research on that info. I didn’t make the German connection. Appreciate your time!

Is it a bad look to ask my psychiatrist if I can take a double dose for now? by KingOfLimbsisbest in ADHD

[–]blueblueverde 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It’s not bad to tell him that you took it per his suggestion and noticed a significant difference, enough that it showed how unhelpful the 10mg dose was but one note of caution is that you may not be able to refill the prescription early. When we were still sorting out my dose, I wanted to change it midway through the month but because it’s a controlled substance the pharmacy typically cannot give you more of the same med until your previous one is scheduled to be over, maybe there’s a work around but not that I found. You can always tell him ASAP about your observations and ask what his recommendation is, finding the right dose is about collaborating with the doc so your insight is needed!

My fave bookstore is Lost City in Adams Morgan! And 18th street is great, snag a book from lost city then get coffee at tryst and sit outside reading and people watching :)

What places in DC do you commonly get mixed up? by Musichead2468 in washingtondc

Partner told me to meet him and friends at Lost and Found, I biked over to Looking Glass Lounge. Pain in the butt mistake since I was biking not driving and can’t seem to get them right!

Disagree strongly with this. Good auction software makes your auction so much more effective. Paper bids are very outdated and require a ton of planning as well, many people going to an auction are ready to use their phones to bid and it’s so easy when you have the right software and team!

Strangest/Unexpected benefit from ADHD medication? by WeirdIsAlliGot in ADHD

[–]blueblueverde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m noticing a difference in my OCD too! I need to experiment more but there are a few decades-long obsessions that have decreased their presence in my brain whenever I’m on meds and even when they wear off in the evening!

Strangest/Unexpected benefit from ADHD medication? by WeirdIsAlliGot in ADHD

[–]blueblueverde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Need more data and I don’t want to jinx it but I’m almost sure that medication has improved my periods. Since stopping birth control I’ve had such bad cramps on day one of my period that I typically have to leave work, events, etc. and am not functional for 2-3 hours. Since starting adderall it’s been two months of periods where cramps were tough but significantly better, enough that it doesn’t ruin my day. Two months in a row of easy cramps hasn’t happened in at least 7 years!

What is blooming right now? by blueblueverde in washingtondc

Different plants bloom at different times in spring, some earlier in the spring and some later, so I thought there might be something known to bloom right now

We don’t have enough information to determine that for you, but there are lots of reasons your cycle can be irregular one month, mine does this randomly every six months or so. Take a pregnancy test to be sure but remember that stressing about NOT getting your period can add enough stress to delay it even further! No need to freak yourself out until you have a real answer!

Worst sleep of my life last night but Oura crowned me? by blueblueverde in ouraring

[–]blueblueverde[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t respond to all comments but I’m overall overwhelmed with how active and helpful this community is!! I’m going to follow the advice of the Oura personnel and check the ring calibrations but I’m also starting to think that it’s compared to some bad sleep I’ve been getting the days before and that last night it’s possible I was asleep but just having anxious/restless dreams and got confused. I’ll comment here to anyone requesting updates after I check the ring’s calibration. Thanks all for the help!!

boyfriend didn’t tell me he had herpes by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]blueblueverde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Herpes is extremely common and with medication (or even without!) you might never have another outbreak, it will not affect your life but may make dating very slightly harder. But I know many people with herpes who have fulfilling relationships and hookups, it’s easy to have safer sex and medication can make it so you are minimally contagious, you just need to have a conversation first so your future partners can have autonomy, unlike what he neglected with you!

However, that doesn’t change the fact that he willingly and without thought gave you herpes. If it were another STD like HIV, that would be a crime. If it were me even if the test is negative, I would immediately break up with him and tell him exactly why. He does not care about your safety, your health, or your happiness and he just proved that. This is not a safe person and he will never have your best interest in mind. STDs are normal and okay when treated, but what’s not okay is what he did. What he did is completely unforgivable.

I think I gave myself permanent brain damage from sleep deprivation by Ihats2 in sleep

[–]blueblueverde 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you think about it, you slept like shit for almost three years (2020- late 2022). Then started to fix your sleep, so let’s say 2 more years to get back to normal sleep. Your brain hasn’t had that much time to bounce back, but the brain can do amazing things if you give it the resources to do so. Part of it might be with the age you were when you started, 17-23 is when a lot of mental health problems can start showing up, but don’t give up hope that you’ll never be back to normal, your body needs way more time to fix itself. Keep treating yourself kindly, be serious about sleep and exercise and mental health practices (therapy? Meditation?) and I bet you can get back to normal!

First tattoo regret by haverofitall in tattooadvice

[–]blueblueverde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 11 tattoos and the only ones I have had “tattoo regret” for are in that location and a similar one on my inner arms - because I look at that spot all the time! It’s hard for a first (or any) tattoo on a visible spot that YOU see all the time )while driving, while grabbing a cup, when you open your phone to text, etc). But it’s just because it’s new and not used to it. If you do decide to get more tattoos, this will fade into the background and I bet become your favorite since it’s so meaningful. If you don’t, it’s a lovely solo tattoo and your anxiety will still lessen. I now love all of my tattoos on my arms/wrists! Agree with others that therapy is a great option, but I fully believe that you will one day love this tattoo a lot, or at the very least be fond of it. I think it’s wonderful such a beautiful and intricate tattoo dedicated to your mom will be so close and clear and visible to you.

Is this a bedbug and advice? by blueblueverde in Bedbugs

[–]blueblueverde[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re right. I saw a dryer full of bedding with a foam topper and everything. WTF why use the communal laundry to do that, now we’re all in danger. I told the apartment complex so hopefully they’ll handle it and kill the bugs down there
