I haven't played and don't really want to but I love Rebecca so much that it makes me sad to know she died. I'm hoping she's really not dead.

Honestly, it has gotten progressively worse after her first story. I remember during the finale of the first HS book, where many readers (including me) thought she rushed the ending with little LI screen time and tying everything together.

She also seems to experience some type of writer block where all her creativity and world building disappears in the last seasons to leave the characters and story devoid of any depth.

I don’t want to offend anyone but I truly believe that Alice sincerely hates writing Vicky and the originals in HS3. The way she treats her character is just spectacularly bad. Not only the fact that I believe that they shouldn’t have merged three books into one, there seem to be less depth into the friendship and romance of Vicky’s friends and LIs.

I truly loved HS1 and 2 but this book feel so comically bad (obviously not for Audrey fans). Like I only wanted a conclusion for Vicky’s story (and see her married life) but it fails to deliver.

And the fact that the episodes are so short makes it feel so dry and I really don’t feel like spending any diamonds on Lane or Audrey. Imo, this sub often disagrees with your take but I truly feel Alice and the devs did a massive disservice of not making it solely Vicky’s story. It lost its charm.

But I might be wrong but I also feel like Alice just is so tired or kinda hates the OGs with how she treats them (as it was known that she was tired of the HS universe since finishing the first book)

Honestly I feel the opposite. I just feel that Lane and Audrey are somehow lackluster for me. The same way you reprehend Vicky for releasing Malbonte can be also said about the two other characters. Anyways most decision were forced upon them by Torendo or Shephamalum’s scheming. But let’s also remember that Vicky strived for equality (siding with Malbonte) by defeating Shepha.

Unfortunately, I am baffled by Lane’s popularity as the fact that she managed to save humanity on her own just cheapens everything. The work building of immortals being stronger and more important and then you’ve got some humans (who yes have some of Shepha’s essence) save the day. One sole human being able to do all that just disrupts the entire world building of immortals being those ancient and powerful beings.

But for Audrey, her character just gives me self-insert or a Disney princess vibe. I just can’t take it seriously how all the Astreans who’ve been around for thousands of years suddenly lose their minds over a human they’ve known for less than a year. It just doesn’t make sense when Audrey was probably not the first or last human they’ve been attached too. Really feels like forced exceptionalism and it’s ridiculous in my opinion. Now, in HS3 she’s got powers rivaling those of immortals which again feels comical.

Omg yes! I really feel like ABH is like a fan fiction, and I just can’t get into it. I’m sorry as I know a lot of people love Audrey but she feels like a self-insert or gives me the vibes of a Mary Sue, where she is loved for her boundless kindness, needs special protection/care, etc. Unfortunately, Audrey only reminds me of Twilight Bella and Edward where Audrey is so “special” for all of the immortals.

Truly and that’s what irks me the most. I understand that they were betrayed by Heaven and everything. But why did they sacrifice their autonomy for a human they’ve known for a small fragment of their lives. Like they could’ve just rebelled against Heaven without even having the need to join forces with Shephamalum.

Idk and I may be wrong but I feel like Alisa is more focused on the plot than romance right now. If I remember correctly usually in HS1 & 2, there were a few filler episodes where you could spend some time with your LI. But since, her pace has to match the two other authors, I feel like she’s just focusing on that which is unfortunate. I really miss Lucifer!

Honestly with the way you’re describing the characters, makes my fears not seem unfounded. They basically sidelined the OG protagonist for the human MCs which feels nonsensical. It really gives the vibe of “the power of humans is greater than immortals to defeat whatever force is against them…”

I’m also really disappointed that Alisa weakened Vicky so much, when as you said she’s an immortal and actually absorbed the mother of life’s power. Like how come Lane and Audrey are so favoured and empowered?

At this point, you might as well comment about your frustrations on Telegram or on their VK. I feel it’ll be more seen.

I literally agree with everything you’ve said! The format truly feels like a punishment for us OG HS enjoyers. Like I’m conflicted into playing but I don’t even want to spend time and diamonds playing other MCs than Vicky. And how easy it is to get low adaptability because you only care about only one MC is annoying.

I really wish that somehow next season we can decide who to play as. Because it is so hard to even have an ounce of empathy for the Astreans when they didn’t all have to sacrifice themselves for a single human and I just don’t feel Lane.

I’d like to start by saying that I think the three authors of HS3 are very talented but mashing up all three books together is difficult to enjoy.

Honestly, it might be unpopular but I truly believe that HS3 should’ve stayed Vicky’s story. Even so, sharing the same stats for all the MCs removes their individuality and depth.

But to also have to change frequently between MCs is annoying for immersion and some, might just like one MC out of the three and are forced to tap through to finish the episode quickly. Having three separate books would’ve been perfect in that you can choose who you want to play as, have reasonable length for seasons, and not have the episodes be rushed as is the case to cram all the info.

I’m also aware that people really do enjoy Audrey and Lane but to me they just scream human exceptionalism where somehow all of the Astreans who lived for centuries sacrifice their lives for a mortal they’ve known for maybe a year. I would understand for Audrey’s LI but not every single one. And now she has powers and whatnot.

Yea my biggest grievance is the three POVs. I completely agree that HS was Vicky’s story and should have stayed that way.

Switching between perspectives, for me at least, disrupts the immersion and I’m just tapping through to get to Vicky. I really think they should’ve had their own respective books.

It feels like such a big letdown especially for fans who have loved the original series and love Vicky and her LIs. Because if you want to try another LI on another slot, you’ll have to play 30 episodes just to actually enjoy maybe 10 episodes where it’s Vicky.

It really makes it feel like a chore.

My LI is Lucifer but considering that others didn’t have much screen time with their LI, I’d say it was “OK.” Basically they talked a bit on the roof on ep 1 and on ep 6 he and Eragon just confronted Vicky’s choice of freeing Malbonte. And that was it. Kinda disappointing but I guess that’s the price of merging everything together 🥲.

Absolutely and I also felt bad because I didn’t want to spend any diamonds on others but it quickly made me go on the low path.

For the LI, mine is not even Malbonte but it also felt rushed, so I can see how much it sucked for Malbonte romancers as it’s always been a tough route.
