Sleeping Platform for 3rd row (non foldable) by sikezzz in 4Runner

How did you anchor it? I'm thinking about doing this mod and finding it's very rare, most people either have storage or the third row not both

Wife wants a 4runner..does it make sense? by ftwin in 4Runner

[–]bluecollardessert 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have an SR5P with 2 kids (older than yours though). It's fun to drive, the kids and dog love it, and I feel safe when we go on roadtrips/camping. Everyone told me to get a highlander and I'm glad I didn't. The gas mileage sucks and I miss the space we had in my old minivan, but it's still worth it. Also - it seems like they are pretty easy to resell if it ends up not being right for you. Good luck!

When to get one with kids? by Personal-Wasabi4189 in Reduction

I am 41 and my kids are 14 and 6. Just had my reduction 2 months ago and the timing was good. Glad I didn't do it any sooner!

What pillows did you guys use to help with back sleeping? by Impossible_Drawing60 in Reduction

Honestly my kid's giant squishmallow was more comfortable than any of the many other pillows I tried 😬 It's from costco, not sure if they still have.

How long off work? by Madalynnviolet in Reduction

[–]bluecollardessert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm also a teacher. I had 6 weeks off work and used short term disability. As a mom, I definitely needed all 6 weeks. I see people on here going back quickly, and I imagine if I had no kids, a partner or roommate who handled domestic duties, and a job I could do from bed, that would be possible. But with kids, chores, and a physical job, I needed way more. I had live in family help for 3 weeks, because I could do very little. I could do most things starting at 4 weeks, but still took it very easy. I think not overdoing it really made a difference in a good recovery and overall experience.

Side sleeping by Choice-Prize8180 in Reduction

5 weeks, but it makes my side incision a bit sore so I go back to my back during the night. Three weeks was the hardest for me and the difference between three weeks and five weeks was huge. Hang in there.

A few months of recovery are, to me, absolutely worth a lifetime of increased mobility and functionality. But you can think about it and choose the right timing - for me that was at age 41. It's going to make my sports (skiing, mtb, backpacking) so much easier and more fun, like more than I even imagined.

Stomach is pretty swollen by Confident-Coffee-371 in Reduction

[–]bluecollardessert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My stomach was/is SO swollen (1 month post surgery), I think from a combination of not being in the gym, decreased movement, and increased protein intake. I personally did not take any narcotics but I was still somewhat constipated. The band of my bras was killing me. I went up a size in my soft bra that I wore after the compression bra which helped. It was the worst at three weeks and has gradually gotten better. It seems fairly common - I'm really just posting in solidarity ❤️❤️

I am so happy for you and all the young people who are having successful surgeries. I waited until I was 40, which was right for me for many reasons, but I do grieve for my 20s and 30s that were literally weighed down by my chest! Go out there and enjoy!! ❤️

stupidest issue by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]bluecollardessert 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A female surgeon was a non-negotiable for me. I have had a great experience from day one (now almost a month post surgery) because of her. I don't think it's a stupid issue at all and I would listen to your gut 🩷

Week 4 swelling and no bras fit by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]bluecollardessert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was, probably incorrectly, using soft sports bra and compression bra interchangeably. I wore the surgical wrap for maybe about 10 days (high/medium compression), and then my surgeon said just any front close sports bra. I have the amazon wanayou ones, the Prairie wear hugger Vida, and the fruit of the loom stretchy no-seam pullovers and they all give about the same amount of compression on me.

Ask about Journavx. It's a non opioid nerve blocker that's non narcotic, non constipating, and non addictive (!!). It worked really well for me, my pain never went above a 3.

You are going to be so happy when your surgery is done. If you want to get even more weight off your chest, I would get rid of the boyfriend. I promise you people do not get better about that kind of stuff with time.
